Pat Roberts new bio lab at Manhattan is mentioned.
Will the ones responsible be held libel when an
accidental release happens? I think not. Tough luck for Kansans... :(

Standing by for our resident agents provocateur to dismiss, deny, and deride everything.....

A former Gov. doing a cheezy show like this ?
It's nothing but sensationalism of a situation we have lived with since WWI, ( they weren't all ex- Nazi's though they had the good stuff, NERVE GAS )
The Chemical plants around the country are no safer, is that a conspiracy too ?
Is a "Conspiracy" when trains with chemical cars travel though towns ?
It may be stupid, like setting off an A bomb because you don't know if it will end the world, but want to find out.
But putting a Chem warfare site on an Island off the coast hardly rises to conspiracy, unless of course the original land deal was shaky.
Fact, missed by the show, that place is there because Teddy Kennedy wanted it there. It was a pork barrel project.
-
I like the show though.. hell of lot better than Dancing with the Stars and all the other 'Not So Reality' TV ....... ;)
-
Haven't owned a TV in 10 years.

Hey, Tom: It shows! :-[
(not that it's a bad thing)

Lock and Load people looks like the Zombie Appocalypse could actually happen. ;)
But WTF is Jesse the body Ventura doing with that woeful pony tail, least its more entetaining than steven segal and his part time cop show.

Maybe he can find my other sock.

Not much of a secret to anyone who wants to know about them.

I have spent time on most of them. Never to Plum Island but I new about that in the 60's as a kid.
Lose the pony tail Jessie or get a feathered boa and tights.
Should be called News entertainment programing just like pro wrestling is sports entertainment.

+ 10 to RatCatcher's post.
I've said it many times before, and I will probably have to say it many more, but "never attribute to "conspiracy" anything that can be attributed to stupidity or greed."

I think the next episode should be explaining how half the cast of a cheesy Sci-fi movie wound up as governors. "The Predator Connection", "What sort of cabal elevated two B movie stars to the pinnacles of power"? ::) ;D

The dem's.
Seriously I would bet it was a serious case of name recognition and voting for the Characters they portrayed with out any real thought into what their actual stances were on anything.
-
You can contrast this junk with the really good job The Best Defense Survival did on WMD's.
I thought that program did a great job of keeping the threats in context.

You made a post once, FQ, something to the effect "When I hear hoof-beats, I think horses, not Mutant Attack Zebras."?

Has he found my other sock yet?

I heard this story about how the US government actually made a large group of Americans move from one part of the country to the other, totally against their will. They even sued and the case went to SCOTUS and they agreed but the president thumbed his nose at them and did what he wanted anyway. Everyone said it was in the history books but I didn't believe them because after reading the posts on this board there absolutely is no way our government would ever do anything like that....
And here is another totally made up ridiculous conspiracy theory: the US government infected a subset of the population with a sexually transmitted disease so they could study its effects. And here's the part that really lets us know it's all a hoax- they never told the people what they were doing. Supposedly that's been documented too but like I wrote above, after reading the posts here and other places on the board it's absolutely BS. Our government would never, ever do anything like that...
And did you hear the BS story about how the government lied to our troops about the toxicity of a substance they were spraying over the jungles of Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia? Supposedly these troops came down with some sever illnesses afterward but the government kept denying they were at fault...That was all BS too I guess.....I'm so thankful we have people here who really critically examine the issues and debunk this garbage going around.
It's all BS just like how Obama would like to take our guns too isn't it? He has never taken a single gun but we're all sure, damn sure to be exact, that is exactly what he is planning to do. That too is a conspiracy theory.....
-
Actually FA, back in the 50's my Dad worked clearing brush on power lines. He would get soaked with the substances later called "Agent Orange" ( 24D and 245T ? ) He claims it is bullshit.
Your defensiveness makes me think you are one of those Alex Jones tin foil junkies.

I'm not defensive, Tom, I'm just incredulous about the blind beliefs you and Quaker have about things like this when there is documented, verifiable history that shows that our government has engaged in activities that is just downright wrong (and that is being mild). I'm using the absurd to demonstrate the utterly absurd.

So are you saying we should not be doing research on WMD that can be manufactured in my kitchen with nothing more than some chicken soup and a whiskey flask ? Sarin comes from the mold on Rye, should we not research Nerve agents because "only bad people do that"?
Next question is where the hell do you suggest doing the research if an island off the coast isn't good enough ?
The country would be a lot better place if The government had done a few more things that the weeny "nice" people think is wrong, machine gunning anti war rioters and Civil rights marchers would have been a good start. All that bullshit about "Life is so precious" means many people frown on murder, but whats wrong with popping the Iranian azzhole or Kim Jong Il ( I can spell that one ;D ) or Hugo Chavez.
Only a fool credits "Conspiracy"over incompetence, and greed.
There are indeed conspiracies in the world, George Soros money is often behind them.

I'm not saying any of what you wrote above. I'll put it in a clear, concise way that you and everyone will understand: contrary to what you want to believe, our sh!t, does stink just like other countries, Tom. We have our share of atrocities just like Germany, Britain, France, Russia, China, etc. So it is not inconceivable to me that our government could be doing things that we might not want them to do though those in power are supposedly doing all of this to keep us "safe." What do you think Eisenhower was talking about when he warned about the military-industrial complex in his farewell speech in 1961? Do you think he was one of those "tin foil" conspiracy theorists too?

And how one of those B-movie actors became president! What a joke! We all know how that all turned out, right?
-
Those "atrocities " you speak of, such as exterminating as many Indians as possible, and relocating the Japs during WWII were, just like in Nazi Germany, carried out with the full knowledge and approval of the American people.
Actually Ike was talking about Vietnam, another war the Dems got us into then protested.
I suppose you are another of those that think the CIA was some sort of monster during the 60's with the attempts to kill Castro ?

Tom,
Eisenhower was not "just talking about Vietnam." He was getting at a change in philosophy from within government that he found very troubling.
Talking about Castro: I know someone who worked for the "company" during that period of time and they swear we set him up and when he didn't want to go along with us we tried to kill him. I do find it interesting that we would wage a war half way around the world against communism when we would not commit one American soldier to throw Castro out, who is only 90 miles from Key West....
This is now getting boring, Tom. You need to get on the ball because I'm kicking your ass all over the place tonight! ;D

I'm not ready to get in the ring with anyone and go to blows.. but I agree...Thanks FA.. I wanted to say some of that a few days ago ( not that detailed ..as I'm not that informed).. but I'm sometimes labeled because I DO believe a whole hell of a lot about our so called Gov. than what is shown on the outside. The corruption and inside jobs are so rampant that if we knew even 1/4 of it , we wouldn't be able to hold our heads up. Our Government has no loyalty to the United States citizens or to anyone.. Its all about power and greed....and control.

I posted a reply earlier, but I must have hit a wrong button since it is not here. ???
Basicly all that stuff was done on dirct orders of the President, in fact, the person in overall charge of the effort to "get" Castro was then Attorney General Robert F Kennedy.
The suggestion to contact the Mafia came directly from the Kennedy brothers along with the suggestion of Howard Hughes security chief, Robert Mahue as the go between. (pretty sure I spelled his name wrong so I went with the phonetic version )

M'ette, While this is true now, it was considerably less true up to the end of the Cold War.
If you or most other citizens knew the truth of what has been happening in the world for the last 100 years or so, you would be afraid to step out your door.
I don't mean that as any type of slam, none of us has any clue what is currently happening in the world.
Even serious news junkies only see the surface when it is occurring. Heck, even the people actually involved only know their own little unrelated pieces.
No one really knows the true story until the memoirs and histories are published, and then you have to read and compare several different accounts of the same incident in order to have an idea of what was really happening.
As an example, for decades many people said, "Oh, the Soviet's would never invade the US, they are "peace loving ".
Then why have several caches of Soviet Comm gear, weapons and explosives been found, not only in Europe, but in several locations here, mostly in Alaska, but some in other area's as well. (If you locate one of these sights DO NOT TOUCH IT. they were booby trapped and after so many years the devices are extremely dangerous, the one found by Swiss police went off while they were excavating it. )

I realize that Tom.. I wasn't taking sides or being mean.. It is just that I really HAVE been jumped on pretty hard by others outside of DR when I talk of some of the things I believe.. Does it make me Un-American? Not in my opinion.. I just don't believe ANYTHING anymore at all if the Gov has anything to do with it.. I have become suspecious and untrusting to the max..
And about 9-11? I STILL believe what I believe and no one anywhere will ever change my mind.. I'm not an idiot and no one can feed me shit and tell me its sugar..
so..................sorry if you thought I was snippy.. it was just nice to have someone actually not phhoo-phaw Conspiracys. who didn't try to come up with a "logical explanation"..when there isn't any except what is in front of your eyes.,
Before I get off my soapbox.. like the government feeding people the BS about no UFO 's or alien abductions.. Bull shit.. I have seen it with my own eyes..
I really feel myself getting warmed up .. so I am going to put a lid on it and not bore you with my rantings anymore for the night.. LOL

Additional information is always needed to sort the wheat from the chaff.
As another example "everyone knows" that the Rosenberg's, (Julius and Ethel, Atom bomb spies ) were innocent, and Joe McCarthy was a monster who drove poor oppressed "progressives to suicide with his witch hunt.
Fact : Julius Rosenberg's KGB codename was "Liberal", they were guilty as can be.
McCarthy was called a lunatic for claiming there were 50 some odd known communists working in the US Government, he later increased this number to over 100.
The truth of the matter is that McCarthy simply wanted to know, Why were know enemy sympathizers in sensitive government positions at the height of the cold war. The only person involved who committed suicide was one of McCarthy's witness's who jumped from a window after the Dems outed him as a homosexual.
At the same time, according to released KGB files the actual number of code named Soviet agents was just over 300, and included names such as Harry Dexter White, and Laughlin Curry

I think you both need to chill and realize you aren't as far apart as you think. Conspiracy is a big word and its been cheapened by overuse.
Macarthy? Maybe he did have a point. Doesn't change the fact that he was a self seeking rabble rouser. He wasn't interested in the truth, but in his own carreer and was willing to create a climate of fear to advance it, because hey, what's a good witch hunt among friends? So, no it wasn't a conspiracy with no basis. And yes, Joe did more damage to the Constitution than the commies he outed. Both of these things are true at the same time.
Same is true of a lot of other stuff. There's classified as in "We don't want the Chinese to know", then there's classified as in "Whoops, thats embarrasing, lets cover it up". When the two get confused, folks get cynical. Not Catholic bashing, but they are the perfect example. Rather than admit they had a problem with some pedophile priests, they try to sweep it under the rug, and when that comes to light, every one looks funny at someone wearing a collar.
Lots of shady stuff gets classified as CYA. Then the government tries to suppress it, because, "Hey, its classified". Next thing you know, we're on the grassy knoll. Its important for two things to happen.
First, the government (like the Catholic Church) needs to remember that sometimes its best to just let the dirty laundry air, rather than hiding it.
Second, that folks need to realize that real conspiracies are scarce on the ground, not because the government is all sweetness and light, but just because its takes a whole lot of competance to pull one off. Not that I think M'lette and FA are wrong, they do happen, just that they are far more rare than the Alex Jones set thinks they are.

Not trying to stir the puddin' and not trying to be disagreeable with anyone, but I think the biggest problem with most conspiracy theories is the simple truth that people don't keep secrets very well. In most cases, the number of folk needed to construct a decent conspiracy means that at least some of them will blab. It's just human nature. We talk. The only way to keep a secret is to be the only one who knows it--and then to keep your trap shut. That just doesn't happen with conspiracies.
Echoing FQ's thought: When you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras.
-
I hate to say this, but there are parts of FQ's post I agree with :
"you aren't as far apart as you think. Conspiracy is a big word and its been cheapened by overuse."
There are conspiracies out there, such as George Soros's manipulations in the UN , Democratic Party, and NPR, however I do not believe our germ warfare facilities have anything to do with one. The congress decides to finance one the Military says it needs, then a bunch of senators fight to see who can get the money spent in their districts. Any "conspiracy involved revolves around the money and trade offs to get it.
"folks need to realize that real conspiracies are scarce on the ground, not because the government is all sweetness and light, but just because its takes a whole lot of competance to pull one off."
Competence is not exhibited in any other aspect of Government. For the last 20+ years, we have been saddled with politicians who are perfectly willing to expose the countries most important secrets simply to score points, and have screwed up everything they touch, from the post office to cash for clunkers, but you think these dumb azzes can manage a conspiracy ? Come on, most of them can't even spell the word.
"they do happen, just that they are far more rare than the Alex Jones set thinks they are."
No explanation needed.
This part of FQ's post though is pure liberal BS.
"Macarthy? Maybe he did have a point. Doesn't change the fact that he was a self seeking rabble rouser. He wasn't interested in the truth, but in his own carreer and was willing to create a climate of fear to advance it, because hey, what's a good witch hunt among friends? So, no it wasn't a conspiracy with no basis. And yes, Joe did more damage to the Constitution than the commies he outed. Both of these things are true at the same time. "
Think about it, When we are with in a trigger pull of open warfare with the Motherland of communism, what harm can possibly come from having a few hundred ENEMY sympathizers in important Government positions ?
FQ, you wear a hockey helmet, don't you ?
