Title: Prop. 8 in San Francisco
Post by: MikeBjerum on October 27, 2010, 12:23:41 AM
Residents of San Francisco is voting next Tuesday to allow non-citizens, legal or not, to vote in school board elections.  The only retirement is that they are responsible for a student in the school district.

Another issue even worse, is that Portland, Maine is voting to allow legal non-citizens to vote in municipal elections.

Along with this story is information that several cities already allow some of these things.

We aren't going to be over thrown from the outside - We hare handing everything over willingly ... Damn it, we hare begging them to take it  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Actually, ths isn't at all new. There is a long history, particularly in the 19th and early 20th centuries, of states and territories setting different, looser citizensship requirements on voting then the feds. Women as well, were allowed to vote in state and territorial elections before the 20th ammendment,  That said, San Fransico is, as is so often the case, out of its damn mind. >:(

The first woman Governor in the US was either Montana or Wyoming (forget which ) in the 1880's.
I can see letting LEGAL  aliens vote in local elections. As for the illegals any city, county or state that allows them to even be here, should lose all federal funding, until they conform to federal law, and the officials of that area should be jailed.

You would think the idea of "having to prove you have a kid in a public school" would irritate folks. They shouldn't have kids in school because they shouldn't freaking be here. If they do they are a drain on the schools not only financially but because none of them speak English. What part of this people fail to get is uterly beyond me.

Guys, I'm in a small neighborhood in San Mateo right now and there are actually a lot of gun folks around. Drive north a little into the San Fran area and things are different...definitely different.

For the most part it is very localized.   It really is a shame, lots of great things in the city.
