Title: Mans Best Friend!
Post by: Timothy on October 31, 2010, 06:51:45 PM
Please keep a good thought for my little buddy Harley.

He's blown an ACL and I don't know what to do about it yet.  He's a major part of our family and my wifes shadow and protector regardless of his diminutive size.

Thanks in advance....

Done.

As a fellow diminutive dog owner; their hearts, loyalty, attitude, and spirit, make up for size. My Alfred will always be better than even ADT.

All the best with Harley, never count out a second opinion if possible.

Hope and praying for the best.

That's a tough one Timothy!

Consider the prayers done and continuing.

Know how you feel. Don't like a friend/companion hurting.  Mine had the same injury that the former NY Jets quaterback, Joe Nemeth had.  Cost several hundred $$$$$ to repair!  She wasn't in any pain and she got along fine so I left it alone.  Went several years that way and was fine.  Hope things work out.

Funny how whatever size they are, we end up with a "dog shaped hole" in our hearts that they fill up so perfectly.  Prayers and good thoughts go out for Harley.

Thanks guys.  I have 500 bucks invested so far in diagnosis, I'm willing to go further as silly as it sounds fiscally.  It's not about the money anyway, I can always make more of that but I'm not willing to give up on him yet.

We're seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon Wednesday night in Hartford to get the scoop on what we're up against and see what our options are.  I'll keep ya posted...

Great picture, Timothy.   I hope you can find a solution to his aliment.

Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday next.

Not as bad as we thought, the cost of these things can be reasonable or ungodly expensive.  We found a guy who's been doing a less invasive corrective type for thirty plus years on small dogs and he was reasonably priced.

Prognosis for a full recovery is very good..the little guy gets a temporary stay for the time being.....

Thanks again..

Thanks for the update, our lab blew out her ACL and three months later did the same thing to the other, which the vet said could happen, took off after a butterfly... :o

Hope all goes well for the little guy!!!

Hope she has a speedy recovery.

I know there isn't much that I wouldn't do for my girl - she's a better pal than most people I know.

Signing the cast ...  Got to be some little gun saying that would be appropriate at a time like this  ;)

Glad to hear it is going well.  Take care of him!

As the song goes..."Bless the Beasts and the Children for in this world they have no choice".  Glad the little one is OK.

Glad the little guy is doing ok. Hopefully the thing heals up good as new.

We just adopted a rescue pup- 7 month old Shiba Inu who is atypical of the breed. Sweetest dog we've ever known.
He's smart, but a little feisty and stubborn, walks on lead like a champ and will lick your hands 'till they're raw. He's even got the ancient blind husky up on her feet every day trying to find all his chew bones. She knows if she keeps patrolling he eventually forgets it and she scores. Even a blind squirrel....

Our pets are our family also.  Nothing compares to the unconditional love, loyalty, and affection of a good dog.

Sounds like your family has up the ante on their share, Tim.  Good job.

Take care.
