Since everything Olberdorf did was technically a "conflict of interest" according to NBC, if they really held the line, they would have no employees....

However,

Good Bye you schmuck!!!!!

I just got a "tingle" up my leg.... ;)

From the "Comments" section, somebody calling themselves "Proud Liberal" wrote:
Quote
Keith Olbermann is a breath of fresh air. They are just trying to make an example of him and intimidate us. There is only one voice in the mainstream media and it is Rupert Murdoch Republican which is why no one is watching them. Keith is a serious threats to the dead head that has become the public. He intelligently challenges and says what we all wish we could. They are intending to come for Rachael next?

If this tool believes that nobody is watching Murdoch's Fox News, he is either brain-dead, or seriously delusional.  But then, if he weren't he wouldn't be a "proud liberal", would he?

Was the above comment submitted by Mr. K. O'Mann??   ;D

The left (Rachel Madcow) is already whining that FOX has no ethics cause Hannity gave to some pols as well and he didn't get suspended.

Honestly, I've never been an Olberman fan. He and O'reilly seem like each other's evil twins. Still, I'm not sure what the big deal here is. Him, Hannity, O'reilly, Rush? they're not journalists. They do opinion shows. Everyone knows they're biased. They are editorialists for god's sake. Why wouldn't they give money? They sure make a living giving free airtime. If it were the guys in the news  room I'd have a problem. These guys? Where is the scandal?

I saw that too Haz and this is my take on it...

There isn't a law that says journalists can't contribute to political campaigns or that they can't speak their minds or make their opinions known while on the air.  Arguably, MSNBC doesn't care about the way these people speak on air but their contracts say the cannot donate while they're on air personalities, period!

Fox, more than likely, doesn't have this clause in their contracts so these folks can do what they please.

The 1st Amendment says that "Congress shall make no law".....but a private employer can do what they please.....

thoughts?

Tim, I think that only applies to religion.
Which means that "Tax exempt status" for churches is unconstitutional.

While I don't want to get into a Constitution argument with Tom, (I don't have the ammunition  ;D)....what was I clumsily trying to say is. that if an employer wants to put rules in the contract or employment agreement, the employee has two choices;  Agree or disagree, work or not work!

The Government has no say in the matter unless there proves to be a discrimination problem, disability problem or any other prejudice PROVEN against the employer by an employee.

Most people are "Employees at will" whereas, there is no written agreement and the employer is allowed, rightfully, to change the rules at any time for any reason.  Employment contracts, on the other hand, are a contractual agreement, signed after legal review and agree too by both parties.  If either violates the agreement, then there is a problem.

I thought that might be where you were going.
I don't know, but it seems that it would be a matter of strictly Contract law, with out any real connection to Constitutional issues.
On the other hand, the Constitution specifically protects "Life, liberty, and property," Could a job be considered "Property" ?

Exactly my point, although someone, very soon will scream discrimination if they haven't already.  I haven't really cared about reading much more.

After I read the original article, my interest in Olberman waned and I started thinking about boobies and guns again!
