So our little fledgling USPSA club had our local match Thursday. 7 production and 1 Open shooters. We hold this at a new indoor range in north Atlanta and we take up one of the 3 bays. We're all ready to shoot and someone says our junior shooter is with her grand-dad in the next bay getting a lesson. Since I know the young girl I walk over and discover she's getting a shooting lesson, not from her grand-dad, but from Randi Rodgers!!
For those who don't know here's a few highlights about Randi:
11-Time Cowboy Action Ladies World Champion (1999-2009)
2-Time IDPA Ladies National Champion (2008-2009)
2008 USPSA Ladies Production National Champion
2009 Ladies Production Bianchi Champion
2009 USPSA Ladies Limited-10 National Champion
Plus add Limited-10 and Production Ladies champ for 2010
I, of course, introduced myself, like a gentleman, and invited her to shoot with us. Maybe another night she says. I'm going to work on getting her, if not to shoot a match with us, at least give us a "demo" run of one of our stages.
Our junior shooter, turns out, while she's new to USPSA, is a nationally ranked jr in CAS ! I better watch out, she'll be passing me in scoring soon.
Here's the USPSA picture of Randi shooting.

And as if anyone cares at this point, or even bothered to scroll down this far, I placed in the middle of the pack, which is a step up for me.

Impressing a cutie is always good motivation ;D

We don't get anyone like that in our local range. We did have Jim Belushi in last year.

You know I just realized something ...
Every time I've had the pleasure, and I mean PLEASURE, of shooting with one of the fine ladies of USPSA and every time I've seen porn from one of you doing the same, they are all wearing shorts. Does the word LEGS come to the perverted mind of anyone else ;D
-
Those are TACTICAL shorts! ;D They are designed to distract. If the amount of bold and caps in you post is any indication, it works. My advice? Fight fire with fire. Your next match, wear a pair of tiny tight black shorts. It might not be a pleasurable experience for the competition, but it will distract them. ;D
FQ13 who would like you to repay me for this fine bit of coaching by NOT posting pictures. ;D

Agree with FQ on all 3 counts.
But especially the 3rd.
Story about something else that made me want to wash out my eyes with battery acid :
Last Saturday I was doing some errands around town that wound up with me walking up Main St. with my (for distance and yes it matters to the story) glasses on . One section is pull in parking as I was approaching ( 100 yards ) that area I see a large old woman crouching at the open trunk of a car, basically in the street, As I got closer (75 Yds) she stood up and I thought, Gee, her dress is all messed up, at 50 yards I saw the paper fluttering :o
The old bat probably would have took her dump on the side walk but there were people walking there.
No wonder Obummer won :-[

Nice try, but we know she had jeans under them.
At least in YOUR pictures ;D

A number of years ago I was shooting in a USPSA Sectional match at one of our local clubs and who should show up to shoot in the squad I was in...Brian Enos (who happens to have a very good web site himself)! I know, not as cute as Randi and legs weren't impressive at all, LOL but one of the best shooters around at the time. Learned a lot that day.

A couple of years ago I was at one of the Sportsmans Warehouse's here in town, and right near the pistol counter they had this big, life size cardboard cutout of Rob Leatham. I happened to look a couple of feet over, and he was standing right there! I told him he looked just like that guy and he laughed out loud. He was just there checking out the guns and getting some stuff. He lives in the Mesa area. He was a super nice guy to meet and talk with. Bill T.

I've met Rob, shot with Rob, and talked with Rob about how to shoot stages. He is down to earth, a blast to spend time with and only on a pedestal because we put him there. One evening when everyone was cleaning up he was talking to a few people, and Kippie noticed. She told him to get his ass out there and help ... He jumped and worked as hard as anyone else!
The best description of Rob comes from Phil Strader. Phil calls him an over grown kindergartner.
As compared to the average person on the street or the range I believe the "pros" are down to earth and good people for the most part. There are a couple I don't care for, but I would take 99% home with me or to any shooting event with my friends without thinking twice!

I suspect that when you reach that level of ability you have got to be personable as well as skilled if you are going to be representing a major company.
Lets face it, there are lots of people we never heard of who can shoot outstandingly well, But if they come across as a jerk they are not likely to project the image a sponsor wants us to have of their company.
Look at Ciener, how many of you have bought a different brand of .22 conversion unit because he personally is a jerk.

How many of you buy, love and shoot CZ?
One of their spokesmen and their crew are a strange group. Beyond questionable moral standards and not fit to be around family.
They are among, and most of, the 1% I exclude.
-
I have a stock CZ SP01 Phantom which I use to shoot SSP in IDPA. Sights will be replaced with something more suitable for my old eyes. DA is a bear...SA is great...accuracy is great. Might trade it if the right deal comes along but don't regret getting it.
Richard
PS: Had one bad experience with a sponsored female shooter but all in all they are good people.

I will agree with you m58. I love my CZ's.. from what I have seen and heard, you are correct in that statement.

Who is so bad at CZ? Bill T.

PM'd ya ... just hope you aren't a part of the crew!
Others know, but don't want to name the names on here.

Thanks for the reply. Bill T.

In the Marines we had a saying about the 10% who never get the word.
I'm glad the percentage seems to be much smaller in this case. :-\
