Can you believe this?
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/u-s-gets-a-scolding-from-u-n-human-rights-council/
For the first time on Friday, the United States subjected itself to some harsh criticisms from friends and foes alike among the 47 nations sitting on the United Nations Human Rights Council. The U.S. took the criticism in stride with a high-level delegation of around 30 officials led by Esther Brimmer, the assistant secretary of state for international organization affairs.
Among the chief critics and first in line at the podium to speak out: Cuba, Iran, Russia, North Korea and Venezuela, whose delegates reportedly camped out overnight to secure their spot behind the podium.
Cuban ambassador Rodolfo Reyes Rodriguez called on the U.S. to end its blockade of the island country, calling it a “crime of genocide.” In addition, it condemned the U.S. for “violations against migrants and mentally ill persons” and called on America to “ensure the right to food and health” for all citizens.
Iran’s delegation demanded the U.S. “halt serious violations of human rights and humanitarian law including covert external operations by the CIA carried out on pretext of combating terrorism.” The Islamic nation — currently poised to stone a woman for alleged adultery charges — told the United States it needed to “combat violence against women.”
North Korea, a dictatorial nation known to starve its own people, told the U.S. “to address inequalities in housing, employment and education” and “prohibit brutality…by law enforcement officials.” The delegation also noted that it was “concerned by systematic widespread violations committed by the United States at home and abroad.”
Libya accused the U.S. of systematic “racism, racial discrimination and intolerance.”
The criticism didn‘t only come from America’s foes. Countries like the United Kingdom and France condemned the United States for its allowance of capital punishment. Still, Assistant Secretary Brimmer told the council that “it is an honor to be in this chamber.”

Who the f*** are these people? They can't even be taken seriously in any way. They need to get out of this country, and go to a more human rights tolerant one,.....like Iran, or North Korea.
I thought I had heard it all..

Fu*$ the UN,
It was never intended as anything but an excuse for FDR to give England material they had no money left to buy in their fight against Hitler.

Actually, listening to the lectures from Iran and North Korea has got be kind of fun. I figure the Ambassador has a few beers, sits there, and tries really, really hard not to fall down laughing. I'm sure the quotes are all over the US offices. I particularly like hearing the Iranian concern about women's rights and NKs concern about us not providing adequate food. ::)

They want us to take food away from any one who has it, not give it to those who don't. ::)

Remember, this is an organization that is set up to give the United States the same vote, as a third world stink hole nation like Cameroon. Who's entire GNP doesn't equal what Toy's-R-Us does at Christmas time. Yet, if we pulled out financially, the entire joint would completely fold up in less than 6 months. What is wrong with this picture?...... Bill T.

We haven't pulled out.

I think ending the crap with Cuba would be a good thing. It was a getaway and hot spot for Americans back in the day.BEFORE COMMUNISM RAN IT INTO THE GUTTER!! However, the Castro brothers are going to have to take former Rep. Alan Grayson's advice about Republican Healthcare,.....
AND DIE QUICKLY!!!!!
Remember the rule about blue-helmets on American soil. ;)

WW3????? The US vs. the UN
And the other side will be armed with.....? Look, as the Founders said, as long as we do not pursue empire and try to occupy foriegn soil indefinately (Iraq, Afghanistan?), we have nothing to fear. John Quincy Adams put it best when he argued against American involvement in Greece's struggle against Turkey. Its a lesson a lot of our Presidents should have heeded.

"[America] goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom." .

WW3????? The US vs. the UN
You're joking, right ? They might get man power from the countries like Fiji and Ukraine that get a lot of revenue from renting their troops out but since we are usually paying the bill I doubt it, Equipment ? They could get that from Russia or China but the 2 Gulf wars showed their stuff (other than small arms ) to be second rate crap. I will not even get into the logistical impossability of such an idea.
A good rule of thumb for Govt's and politicians in general when faced with a "crisis" is "ignore it and it will probably go away". If not then kick the sh!t out of it and go home.
Case in point, The Barbary Pirates.
If you don't know that story google it.

You mean you doubt that Russian paratroopers could/would drop into a small town in Colorado? Tom, you're trampling my high school fantasies! Just please tell me that you didn't sleep with Senora Higgs, the Spanish teacher. Please....Please? ;D

Rest easy youngster, My Spanish teacher was about 60, overweight and did not appreciate my "independent studies" ;D
Quote from FQ's post:

I have no doubt that they could, The Soviets were one of the first nations to pioneer air drops ( originaly they used AN 2 Cub's at very low altitude and very low speed, going into deep snow they didn't use parachutes ::) ) other than maybe Colorado Springs or NORAD I can't imagine why they would, (unless their navigators suck as bad as the maintenance guys do ).
The one thing I don't doubt is that when they used up the food and ammo they landed with they would be royally fu&ked, since they have never had the capability to supply an isolated unit at long range like that.

Mine was thirty, looked like Charro's younger sister, had a fur bed spread and mirrors on the ceiling. Sadly, I only know this because I owned a pickup truck and she was donating some furniture to Goodwill to benefit the high school. :'( Still, even though I can't speak the language worth a damn, I did enjoy the class. ;D
As to Russian airlift cababilities, the point is this. We are still defended by two oceans. A conventional attack is a guaranteed loser. Even if it wasn't no one has the sea and airlift to deploy and sustain one. Unless Putin gts trigger happy, Lincoln put it best.

"From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia...could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide."

Both very good points.
Why do you think Taiwan is still free, even China's vast population and resources are not able to project their power across a crummy 100 miles or less of water. They, like Russia, and Nazi Germany are continental power, they are not capable of projecting their power anywhere they can not walk, (or drive ) to
If we ever see "Blue helmets" on American streets it will be American Quisling's underneath them .The only real threat to American liberty comes from a Democratic Party that has been taken over by communists , socialists, and idiots.

I look forward to one day Voting for a Presidential Candidate who runs on a platform of taking the United States out of the U.N.

If the Tea Party keeps enjoying success, I think this will enter into the picture in due time. If for no other reason that we can no longer afford to waste money on it. Bill T.

Your lips to God's ears, Bill. Or, in this modern age: Your keyboard to God's monitor.

Wasting money belonging to the United Nations is like spending $41,000.00 on a Chevy "Volt". Both are over engineered by people who have more good intentions than common sense. Both were brought about by foolish, left wing thinking. Both cost too much for the problems they don't solve. In the end both will leave you wondering why you ever wasted your money on either one in the first place. Bill T.

You forgot to mention that buying the Chevy means that a polar bear will come to your driveway to "hug" you. I didn't notice if it had a blue helmet. ;D

My first thought is this:
FUUN!!!
Second thought:
Dear UN:
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
Signed,
The American People
Third thought:
We needn't worry about assaults by the Russians, etc, etc. Hell, one of the countries with which we share a border has already taken control of a pretty damned good size chunk of the southwest United States, without so much as firing a damn shot!! And the asshats in Washington seem hell-bent on putting out the welcome mat for even more of this invading army.
I mourn for my country.
