We just got our first cold snap of the year. Record lows too. Our high temp was 68 degrees. ;D Seriously, its not a joking matter. Actually, it is, but there's a serious side as well. It got damn cold last year, by Florida standards, and there was a massive fish kill. They had to close the season for the ext couple of years on some of our more popular gamefish. I'm hoping this doesn't mean a repeat of last winter. Upside, it killed a lot of pythons and iguanas. (No word on the Guatemalans ;)).
Weird thing about all this is that 55 degrees in coastal Florida feels damn cold. This summer I was in West Yellowstone. Walking to meet my guide early one am it was barely 40 degrees. I was quite comfy in shorts, a tee shirt and tevas with a light fleece top. Today, I was freezing my ass off with jeans and and the same fleece. The humidity can really suck. Sad thing is, I like winter clothes, the long sleeve shirts, fleece, and jackets, I just hate the winter weather. ;D
FQ13 who is wondering where the global warming is. If it snows down here again, I swear I am going to stand in front of Al Gore's house spraying aersol cans while riding a flatulent cow.

Better check with Hillary to see if she will be available. :P

my weather station says its 61, wind of 7 mph and .23" of rain since midnight.

46 here, feels like 40....just took the steaks off the grill and had dinner.
You can always put on another layer to warm up. When it's hot, you're pretty much screwed!
-
Believe it or not,I've seen it snow in Florida twice back in the 70's,it was a light dusting but snow non the less.Actually I enjoy the cooler temps.

1976. It actually snowed in West Palm. Just a flurry, but snow. Funny thing, is that it was around the first Earth Day environmental push. At the time Erlich, their big guru, was predicting a new ice age. Man made of course, due to smog blocking the sun. Then he went on to write "The Population Bomb", where overpopulation would lead to a Malthuian crisis and kill us. Now, its global warming. I think they figure something will get us and just want to be able to say "I told you so", with their last breath. ::)
FQ13 who has to admit that I'm not sure he's wrong on the overpopulation thing. I mean hell, look at Guam, it could capsize any day now. ;D :P

Don't forget that prick is responsible for ALL the worthless ATV laws we have as well. I'll join you on my Yamaha to spin up a few donuts in his grass. >:(
Might even scare a few more farts outta the cow! ;)

I missed this one cause I was out for a bike ride ;D
Left the house and the dash said 67. There was a bit more of a cross wind than I liked, but 2 1/2 hours and a five gallons of gas later the temp was still 59 and the wind was gone.
Maybe you should move north for the winter ;D

The absolute coldest I have ever been was in Florida. During the jungle phase of Ranger School we were on a night patrol in a swamp near Pensacola, it was raining and the rain was freezing on my fatigues. Big sheets of ice would fall off whenever I bent my arm. Because we were in sunny warm Florida, we were not issued Mickey Mouse gear as we had been in the mountain phase in North Georgia. I have never liked Florida since that winter of 1964. I have been there often on business since, I still don't care for FL.
Proud to be a Winter Ranger.

It snowed (light flurries) in C. FL in 79 & 86. Last winter was the coldest I ever remembered here and I've lived here off and on since '77. It's funny you brought up this weeks cold snap and how it effects us Floridians. My son who's 7 had a soccer game yesterday morning. It was 53 and a little breezy. At the half he declared he couldn't play any more because he was getting frostbite. They just don't make kids as tough as they used to. ;D

Last winter, you couldn't walk through some trees without tripping on a dead iguana.
Damn that Al Gore....
It's nice to have the windows open for the holidays. After just leaving CT, this weekend was fantastic.
I get to wear jeans and carry my "other" goodies, that I cannot when it's a swamp ass hot day.
Still have the Miami Herald article from flurries in Miami in the 70's. It was gone in a couple of hours, but it did snow in Miami.
That's when "experts" were touting a second Ice Age..... :P

FQ if only my winters were as bad as yours, boo hoo, 50 some degrees must be rough. Speaking of winter clothes, up here the only thing you can do with winter gloves on in our winters is pee our pants. We see -30 a lot more than I wish, when it hits -10 it is a good day to get caught up on work outside. No sympathy here.

To quote my late lamented stepfather:
"If God had intended for man to live in the cold, the Florida Turnpike wouldn't have ended in Wildwood (a lttle town north of Orlando). You go any further north than that and you're on your own. He tried to warn you". ;D

The "Florida Turnpike may end in East Azzhole Fla. But Rt's 1 and 95 go damn near to Canada, so his theory doesn't work.
Or else God DID intend for men to live in the cold.
As for the rest, count me with Huntnelk, Boo f&%king Hoo, Wuss
We had flurries a couple weeks ago with a snow storm predicted for next weekend.
Oh, and it hasn't been above 45 for 2 weeks. I'm a wimp, I'll be digging out my long sleeved shirts this week. ;D
-
Two inches of snow this morning!
-
It was in the 30-40s all last week and we got our first snowfall on Friday night...melted over the weekend though. Will be in the upper 50's this week though and back in the freezer for the weekend.

All of us could have worse winters.
I saw this line reprinted from a Fairbanks AK newspaper.
Heat wave engulfs Fairbanks as temps skyrocket to 35 below.
-
45 F when I left the house this morning for therapy. 52 F for the ride home.
I'm not going to complain, because it is nice to be able to ride! They told me prior to the surgery to put the bike away for the season. However, I wasn't willing to accept that in mid September, and my stubbornness has paid off with over 500 miles since I was told "no more this year."
-
Sunny and 60 here all week and cooler on the weekend.
-
It would be nice if we could keep the no drivin' Canucks to a minimum down here for the winter.
Traffic is worse, between the Yankee Snowbirds, and the Canadians, it sucks.
Although, I can't blame them too much for wanting to leave the ice cube regions.

Fall and winter are the nice months in the Northeast. The spring and summer are when all the wealthy, rude, snobby rich bitches roll into town and head to their summer digs on the ME, NH, MA, RI and CT coastlines. Tourists suck where ever they go.....

+10
Also we don't have Black flies or mosquito's when it's below 40 degree's. Winter is the best time for camping ;D

Speaking for Myrtle Beach, SC.... ANOTHER +10!
Learn to drive. And get a damn map before you come here! ;D
All drivin around in circles, stoppin in the middle of the road, swerving in and out of lanes and such! Yankees! ::) ;)

Touch base with me again in February. ;D

6 inches of new snow and another 6 expected on Wed night. Low 20's to high teens...at least the elk will come out of the high country now.
