Title: CCW in Kalifornia
Post by: JoeG on November 12, 2010, 10:18:26 AM

Michael,
Do you know anybody who is working on fixing CCW in CA? I've been here 25 years now and it seems to me that guns are much more mainstream than in the past. I would think a ballot proposition based on the general guidelines of shall issue might  do better than most would think. Just wondering if anybody has done the polling or if there is an active group to support.

Thanks,

Joe

I have my ccw and I'm in CA, it really depends on the county you live in.  The sheriff has the final say.  Your best bet is electing a pro ccw sheriff.

The lawsuit against Sheriff McGuinness was dropped by SAF and Calguns because the Sheriff Dept. caved in and allowed the self -defense for the Good Cause requirement. That's great for everyone who lives in Sacramento county.
I feel that it would have been better if the case had gone to a decision because that would create precedent to sue other L.E. departments to relax their Good Cause requirement.

Named in the same case was the Yolo county Sheriff. I'm not sure, but I think that case is still slogging it's way through the court system.

There is also the case of Peruta v. San Diego County which was lost at United States District Court for the Southern District of California but is being appealed to the  Court of Appeals of the 9th District. this was also sponsored by Calguns Foundation.

I urge you to join California Rifle and Pistol Ass'n (CRPA), the Calguns Foundation, Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), and the NRA. These are the groups restoring gun rights to Californians. Once you join these groups, the answer to the question, "Who is fixing CCW in CA", is YOU.

Sorry if I took too much space...
