Even our own local WIOD ignorant morning host, called it strange to offer a "automatic" assault weapon....But conceded it was legal. ???

Sanford truck dealer offers free AK-47s

A used truck dealer in Sanford has a Veteran's Day promotion that it hopes will spark sales.
It's giving away free AK-47 rifles.
But some of you think it goes to far.
"I was just taken back," said Tom Bartlet. He said his 19-year-old son came to him Thursday morning asking him to co-sign for him.
"They're going to give me an AK-47 if I buy a truck," the son told the father.
Bartlet says he owns shotguns for hunting and is a strong believer in the Second Amendment.
"But an AK-47, just the connotation of that weapon... it doesn't have a sporting purpose, it doesn't have a hunting purpose," he said.
Nick Ginetta, sales manger at Nations Trucks in Sanford, said he's a veteran and so is the owner. He said the promotion honors those that have sacrificed.
"So many have sacrificed so much for us to be able to do this," he said.
He says customers will get a voucher to take to a local gun shop where background checks will be done. If they don't want it, the dealership said they will offer customers other vouchers and gift certificates.

Central Florida has a fine hog population, last time I checked, an AK is a very good swamp, scrub, brush, rifle to take some BBQ...
You can even scuff it up, get mud on it, smash the snake with the butt on the trail, even put a bayonet on it....Yes they have mag capacity restrictions, but well...you can carry several more...
Sounds like a great pig gun to me. ;D

And God knows, we have plenty of "pigs" mostly in Tallahassee, with their noses in the trough, but that'll get you on a watch list. ;D Seriously, I love it! You piss off Al Gore by buying a gas guzzler, and piss off Sarah Brady with the evilest of EBRs. If I had the cash, I'd throw in for the gun rack. ;D
FQ13 who is already on the watch list (if they're halfway competant) and is loving this! ;)

My Mom e mailed me about this yesterday, apparently the voucher is for $400 she thought AK's went for around $800
I straightened her out ;D

you know what, I'd rather have the xtra 400 off the truck.
I have no use or desire to own a AK.

not true.
The way the law is written, as long as I don't have to many "evil features" or is on the "bad list" I can have one.
You know its funny every one likes to bash CA for its gun laws, when other states like HI and IL have stricker gun laws.

the sad part is the people that need to watch them, will never see it.

................. the voucher is for $400 ..........
So, you don't have to get an AK, you could use the voucher for something else!
Anybody remember the Bank of Colorado?

You are correct TAB, and that is a good video. However, the basics of where they were headed with this is what the Second Amendment is all about. Also, all three of the guns in the video should be available to the general public without restriction or special taxes!

but they are not. What ticks me off about FA weapons is that police can have them, but the public can't.( atleast new ones)
I really doubt if class 3 is ever going to go away. now the hughes amendment might go away, but I would not count on it.

You know, I agree in principle. My basic POV is that if the cops can own it, the average citizen who passes an instant background check should be able to own it as well. If the cops have semis, I'll accept semis. If they can have FA, I should be able to own one also. Still, theory aside, I really don't give a rat's ass about the issue. I can barely afford to feed my AR. If it were FA? I'd be on a street corner with a sign saying "Will work for .556". ;D Honestly, I think a 50 state, no local preemption CCW and a national Fl. style castle doctrine are the hoy grail. The rest can wait, we'll get around to it.

Fifty state carry - Drop the conceal!
I think conceal is a good idea, but don't need any stinking laws that nail someone because of a carry gun being spotted when a jacket or shirt moves. Minnesota got that one correct!
