Title: I Caved At The Gun Show, A Twofer For The Family
Post by: twyacht on November 14, 2010, 03:44:21 PM
Well, I couldn't resist. I saw these two and caved. First was the Smith & Wesson, Eastfield 619A, 12g Pump Action.

Very Clean, don't know how old it is, will have to do some research. I believe it was LE Patrol Issue, but I have to verify. Solid.

Than since I have a sporterized 1891 Argentine Mauser, and an immaculate 1891 Arg. Mauser bayonet with scabbard, I needed an original Mauser the bayonet would fit on like a glove.

All matching numbers, very well taken care of, and in fantastic shape.
Now that I already have the Moisin 91/30, with bayonet, I can have an "Enemy At The Gates" recreation. ::)

They were both a "steal", and I cant wait to find out about the S&W 12g.

Great show, prices are leveling out, especially ammo. Mags are way too high, and some dealers still "don't get it"...but sometimes gun shows are like a box of chocolates... ;D

Nice buys!

However, in the porn posting department I am extremely disappointed!  Your are sentenced to 30 hours at the Hazcat school of "claw disclosure."  Please take advantage of this sentence to learn and share your skills  ;D

By the way, alcohol use IS recommended during the serving of this sentence  ;D

Yeah, TW.  Though these are very nice guns there is no way to verify that they are yours. ;)

Little shottys are just cool (and practical).  And I agree the bayonet needed a 'home'.

;D

But, I wore my topsiders to spare myself the finger toe critique. Although "Alfred"(my dog), welcomed the new members with great excitement in the man cave.

The S&W was NY State Highway Patrol issued in 1976, at that time, they were "trying out" Ithaca's, Rem's, and S&W's...(boy I would love an Ithaca.), and was auctioned by the HP in 1980.

Either way, S&W stopped making shotguns in the early 80's.  :-\ So, it became a safe queen, and is just an old fashioned open can of whoop ass 12g. 3" Full Cylinder Bore.

The Mauser, is extremely well taken care of and was a consignment/estate sale. The grooves in the barrel are very pronounced and the bolt is traditional Mauser, smooth but "manly". The 7.65 x 53 Arg. round is a hole punching round. Lots of muzzle velocity and an incredible amount of ft.-lb. energy.

After I get the furniture cleaned up, severely fondled, cleaned and lubed, they will be pretty damn sweet.

Those are Topsiders?

They look like the ten cent sneakers they issued us in boot camp back in the seventies!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

BTW....nice acquisitions TW... ;)

enjoy the new toys...

Those seem to be the ten dollar Wally World slip on canvas boat shoe that every white guy over forty in Florida owns at least one pair of. I bought two to celebrate the long slide into the grave. Upside, they do save you money on all the condoms you'll no longer need. ;D
That Mauser on the other had is dead sexy. Very sweet pick up. I hope you get a chance to test it at extended range. I'd really be curious to see how that big old round doesvat 300 to 500. post if you get a chance to test dre it.

Geez, get the "toe job" or the bobo "canvas cheap shoe job",....No more condoms needed,  :-\, but it gets more ammo....

Terribly, even though these "gets" were at the PALM BEACH SHOW (FQ? Bueller?)......I have to drive 2 1/2 hours north to get to a range that extends beyond 100yds....

I have a quiver of "stuff" I would love to try beyond 100. The Mauser is one certainly capable.

Nice finds! That rifle is a beauty and everyone needs a short shotty.

I gotta go to the next show and see if I can find a S&W mod 28 cylinder.
