Had a GREAT day.
Traditional Turkey (stuffed and no one died!). (Used the giblets and neck meat in the stuffing along with some chestnuts)
Gravy (with the rest of the giblets)
Garlic mashed taters.
HazJr made a roasted squash vegetable dish (several types) that he the finished in the wok with some spaetzel and rice vinegar and lemon juice (fresh).
Crusader brought oyster dressing and home made rolls (Grandmas recipe! )
Had C&D TokillyaLime pie for dessert (trade marked recipe ;) )
Hit the table at 3:10 (I was shooting for 3 so that was close enough for me ;) ).
All was FABULOUS and had friends and family around me. Best day in a LONG time!

Best day in a LONG time!
And a strong "second" from this side of the room. The yeastie rolls were not exactly as I remember from 30+ years ago. May have something to do with memory. May have had something more to do with bacon grease (waste not, want not) back in the day, and refined lard when I made 'em this time. Still, a good time was had by all, and nobody got shot.

Sounds fantastic!!!! Spent a quiet Turkey Day with the wife, picked Rosemary, Thyme, and Parsley from the garden, butter, S+P, and some orange juice, and white wine. Roasted away,,,,deviled eggs, cranberries, sweet potatoes, oyster dressing, crescent rolls, green bean casserole.
LOTS OF WINE!!!! ;D
I cook with wine,,,......, sometimes, I even put "some" in the food..... ;)
Very glad no one was shot, and there was no need to dial 911.. Always a good thing.
Today: LEFTOVERS!!! ::)

Sounds great! We did the traditional trip to wife's family (40 people plus) but the great part was the night before. Went to #1 daughter's house with fresh striper (it's striped bass season near the Delaware Bay). Nothing like fillets off a 20 pounder!. She dipped them in beer batter and we had a feast on the best east coast fish there is.

They're running south for the cold weather Haz. This time of year is the best time from the Cape to North Carolina if you're willing to brave the weather. The world record was caught off the Jersey shore in September of '82.

Some of them Northerners call em' "rockfish",.....but striped bass is good and licious....
Waiting a bit longer, but Stone Crabs for Christmas, Oysters from Topsail Island, NC. (not the Gulf, thank you),...and the winter shrimp, with a Standing Rib Roast.
oh, and MORE WINE!!!! ;D

Can't buy it unless it's farmed, which just ain't the same. Can't catch it either because I'm the world's worst jinx on a fishing boat, and I'm banned from every boat around. Wife's broker's husband has been nailing them and we finally came up on his list.

I'm more than willing to share some striped bass with y'all next season if we can figure a way to ship the fillets. It's too late for me this year but I'll be gearing up next April.
I normally only keep one or two per season but that's only because I don't like freezing my catch and prefer to eat it that day or the next.
