Stop and think for a moment what Julian Assange is doing to the stability of the world. He leaks United States defense documents. Next he leaks cables (communications) between diplomats and other world leaders.
Next he has announced that he is going to hit a major financial institution.
Think of the damage he is causing through out the world with all of this. Is he any different than the cranky old hen in the beauty shop that start or spreads gossip to watch people fight? Is he any different than the person that shares secrets about a person he does not agree with? Is he any different than the person that benefits from or destroys others with insider trading?
What Julian Assange is doing is much larger than just uncomfortable or career ending. What he is doing is destroying diplomatic trust and financial stability (what little stability there is left) world wide. He is spreading terror - Terror being the removal of the sense of comfort and well being within a group of people that causes them to change their life style and daily choices.
At what point does the whimpy United Nations finally do their job as an international agency, and call this guy to task for what he is doing to all nations in the world?

They did say on the news tonight he has a warrant out for him from interpol for rape. Maybe they will make him disappear.

I hope there is a fully suppressed 5.56 rifle, with an American "spook" in the right place at the time. This arrogant idiot's 15 minutes of fame, needs to be shut down.
He's a publicity hound, his ego is too big, and eventually I hope the crosshairs find him, or he "accidentally" gets thrown, falls off a 50 story bldg.

Assange is a glory hound and a narcissistic child. He is absolutely convinced in his tiny little mind that he's some kind of hero, and the stupid, ignorant, corrupt, evil US is a big doodie face.
If he disappears, could you imagine the uproar? Besides, there are already other wikileak type websites out there. He's started something bad, and the only way to mitigate the spread iis to have some well trained folks convince him to give up all his sources, put them on trial for treason, and ensure not a single one ever breathes free air again. Hopefully that would give some of these people pause before sending classified info to people that shouldn't see it.

Could Julian Assange Be Classified As A Terrorist?
The label "terrorist" is thrown around so much it's starting to lose its meaning. He was probably given that label by our gubmint long ago.
What Julian Assange is doing is much larger than just uncomfortable or career ending. What he is doing is destroying diplomatic trust and financial stability (what little stability there is left) world wide.
Diplomatic trust doesn't really exist does it? They have spies, we have spies and everyone knows it. We spy on our 'friends' and they spy on us. I think 'diplomatic predictability' is more along the lines of what I envision going on.
I agree that he is playing with napalm - being a wildcard in international politics can shorten your life expectancy greatly.

all the more reason to hang them. they are supposed to look after the well being of our country and our citizens, not smear us with mud. if they see something wrong, fix it or inform US. not run to the media and this target Julian to tell the world of all the bad things we do. Peru has been drug into this as well. they aren't happy either. oh well. looks like some politicians will be out of work soon. hopefully they start being careful of what they put on paper and think about having to answer for their actions, but this guy has done too much damage to our country.

If he is charged in the us, it will be under the Espionage Act of 1917.

The guy that gave him the information can be charged under a variety of charges, violating his security clearance, divulging classified information etc, etc. He will not be charged with "treason any more than the Walkers, Aldritch Ames, Jonathan Pollard or Robert Hansonn. As to Assange, he doesn't come under US law since he isn't a citizen, nor did he act on US soil. And I'm not sure he comes under any of the espionage laws since he was not working for another Govt. nor did he transfer the information specifically to another Govt.
About the only thing he is guilty of is receiving stolen property.
He is not a terrorist as he has not engaged in any violent action or advocated violence, who ever mentioned "Diplomatic Trust" is naive and severely uninformed, the whole purpose of diplomacy is to BS other countries into acting the way you want and if there were any "trust" involved countries would not need Intelligence services.
I'm not even convinced this latest release was a bad thing.

The damage Assange and his site have initiated may be negligible. The larger problem is stopping further release of more sensitive information from other sources within the purview of the massive stupidity of our current administration.
Berkley was planning a ceremony to honor the traitor Manning. Don't know if that actually happened. Considering we have a communist, socialist, mamby pamby, dipshit Attorney General, I doubt anyone is gonna see any time.

basicly what it says, anyone that gives info/false info to the enemy or has intent to harm the miltary by thier actions, you can get you the death pentality or up to 30 years in jail.
now there is a bunch more too it and the amendments to it added other things, but thats the important part here.

I'm kinda torn about this one....
First, in order to keep a constitutional republic honest, we need guys like Assange who reveal state secrets to the public. You can't have a gov't operate secret programs without some type of accountability. Think of all the Cuban Missle Crisis, Agent Orange, and Tuskegee Experiment info that would have been hidden forever if someone hadn't leaked it to the public. Information is power....and it's up to an informed American public to keep the American gov't power in check....
That said, what Assange did was absolutely reprehensible. He put the lives of a lot of people in danger when a little White-Out would have gone a long way. I can't even give him a pass for ignorance....he intended to get these people killed. IMHO, he's a co-conspirator to any deaths that result from this....and he should be punished for that. As for his Internet cronies....wait until they see what our IT-types can do with Stuxnet..... 8)
