I just picked up a Colt Trooper MK III .22 magnum with 6" barrel.

The sad part is that someone whittled finger grooves in the original Colt grips so I have to come up with new ones.

I like your grips...........

Tom....... would you believe I haven't "yet" either? I will as soon as I have time to check over my new acquisition as the cylinder isn't locking up. I think/hope it just needs a cleaning.

My advice is to keep it that way unless you have the money to buy the gun. If my late lamented pythom is any example, you will never be truly happy with anything else. People rave about Smiths. BS. That python was like glass. I've shot 5 figure doubles that didn't lock up that smooth or balance as well.
FQ13 And yes, I really, really, really wish I had that gun back. (if you're listening Santa, you can have both Glocks and my Smith in trade). As I doubt I'll get my Christmas wish, I'll drink damnation to Sarah Brady and the AWB instead. Somehow though, its not the same. :P

Nice pistol. I gave my youngest stepson a blued version of the Trooper when he got out of the military.

Colt is stupid for not making revolvers anymore, yes they may be a little pricey, but I know that a large amount of shooters would buy the damn things.

Gunman,

I notice that by your avatar you are a Ruger Man.  I want to take this opportunity to help you out.  It would obviously be embarrassing and possibly blasphemous for you to possess a Colt.   Since I've recently been bit by the revolver bug, I will be more than happy to relieve you of this GREAT LOOKING item and will even be willing to pay the shipping.

Always willing to help.

Alf:  Whose never fired a Colt revolver either.

Tom trust me, you really don't want to shoot a colt.  You can never look at a S&W or a ruger the same again if you do.

GD I miss my colt cobra, damn theifs.

TAB is right. I got to shoot a Holland and Holland once. I really wish I hadn't. I wondered what the fuss was about. Now I know. I still love my Parker and my Merkel, but DAMN! :o I'm right there with TAB, I'm not singing the praises of all Colts, because I just don't know them. Still, my Python was to my Smith what a Glock is to a kel-tec. Its not just a different league, its a different sport. :P

I do appreciate the offer, but will have to decline!  And yeah, I am a Ruger man, but I have to admit that I never shot any Ruger felt as smooth as a Colt.
