I'll be watching this one! Bill T.
-
Ooooooh....Ahhhhhh!!!!
Thanks Bill, had not seen that yet.......will definitely be on my 'to watch' list in January!!!!!
-
Odd, it runs opposite of the Midway Wednesday at the Range on a competitive channel. Is Wednesday the only night you can run shooting shows?

It's a plot against us.
Seems like the only TV shows I even bother to want to watch all come on at the same time on the same nights.
Thank goodness for DVR.

LOL but you maybe on to something. I do watch Larry Vickers on Thursdays on Tactical Arms. I know Spike has a bunch of shows on Saturday morning but I'm out on the range then so I rarely see them.

DVR is set!!!

Fortunately, most of the Wednesday night OC shows air several times. The DVR picks it up on the first airing which leaves the other time slots free for competing shows. If push comes to shove I can set the OC shows to a lower priority and it'll pick them up on re-run.....usually later that same night.

Unfortunate for sure, but Spike runs their on Saturday morning, and Sportsman runs theirs on Thursday evening. I know it is all about business competition, but as the customer I hate their forcing me to pick one over another >:(
I also wish that Outdoor Channel would run the shooting shows on other days as well. They repeat their hunting and fishing, so why can't they do the same with shooting shows ... besides Impossible Shots, which they do show on Saturday.

This is a reminder Monday 1/24 at 10pm? or at least that's what the Discovery channel says.

I wonder why? It was free advertising. This link says Wednesday, January 26 9 PM Eastern and Pacific Time??

Jan. 26th, 9 PM. A commercial just came on.
-
Alright! DirecTV only allows selections 2 weeks out and they finally have the programming for 1/26.
So I'm all set. Wed 1/26 @pm. There's another episode at 9:30 too.
-
My cable guide says 2 new episodes will air tonight. One is at 10:00 PM local time, and another at 10:30 PM. They will be rebroadcast at 1:00 AM and 1:30 AM tomorrow. Check your local time for airing because the times they advertise aren't always right. Discovery Channel. Bill T.

Thanks for the reminder, Bill......I had forgot to set my DVR. :o
(sometimes my memory is so bad I have to write reminders for reminders in the best place to see them) ;D
**Glad I checked....One guide said 9:00 and one said 10:00.....my self-note was wrong....It was 9:00.
Saw it....seemed OK so far.

Good show. His daughter is funny (and cute).

I think I need to venture one state over. She appears to be well within my age range. ;)
If things go well, I could have access to Daddy's guns. If not, I might have access to the wrong end of those same guns. :-\
Think it's worth the risk?

Definitely!

I want to work there and I want one of those masterkeys

I thought you were going to say you wanted something else. ;)

I missed it but it's on again in 25 minutes. I can't wait.

Just watched it for the first time tonight.

We saw two episodes last night and really enjoyed it. The guy and his daughter are both funny, smart, and by the looks of it, competent. It's nice to see the whole crew loving what they do.
-
I taped it, and I'll watch it later this morning. Bill T.

Looks like I'm going to be the curmugeon in the bunch...
I wish it would have been more "technical" rather than "ohh, cool...it's a bad-@$$ looking gun".
Every time they talked about a gun or a project they were doing, I kept getting my hopes up that they were going to get into the gun, its peculiarities, etc etc. But the deepest they got was saying, "now we'll take this Saiga shotgun" or "the M203 had 2 different mounts. One works, one doesn't".
These type of shows (e.g., American Choppers, Ax Men, Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars) are set up more as drama / personality-tests and the "stuff" is a side-show. I care less about the fact that the owner's daughter seems annoyed about EVERYTHING (and would be a real challenge to live with...cute yes, but...holy crap she was in a perpetual bad mood), and kept wondering about how they got that Saiga to run with such a short gas system. Did they have to mess with the gas port size? Did they get the Saiga to run with target type shells or just high-brass.
Then again, you probably won't attract the Average Joe or Call of Duty kiddie if you get too technical. My daughter keeps telling me that I'm weird for caring about the tech side of guns.
Don't get me wrong...the more that guns are normalized and a part of everyday life, the better for the mass public. Helps us win. Although I'm not sure most of the characters on this show are mainstream.

You must be a ball at parties. ;D
Just kidding. Try to remember that the show is about a man and his daughter that own a company that makes guns. It is not a show about guns. Judging by the scene in the first episode when he had them turn off the camera, I don't think he has much interest in giving out too much information to prospective competitors. Can't say I blame him.
There's still Wednesday night at the range if you want shows about guns. Me, I plan on watching them all. And Pawn Stars, too!

I think about 90% of that was acting. Bill T.
-
I suspect that the "you gotta work here to see this part" was partially about not giving away secrets to competitors, and partially about not giving blueprints to folks who might misuse the technology. In other words, a CYA for litigational exposure if it were copied and A) failed causing injury or damage and B) If it were used by some whacko to cause mayhem and carnage.
Just my .02.

"Sons Of Guns" did provide me with the perfect answer to give the spousal unit the next time she asks me what made me buy another gun. That answer is the one the dad gave his daughter when she asked him what made him buy a grenade launcher. He said, "The sheer inability to continue life without it."
I like the way he thinks.
-
I liked the statement the dad made about starting the whole business just to give his little girl a job.....and followed it up by making the statement that he see the whole M-F'er burn or crumble to the ground as long as it kept that happy look in her eye (or to that effect).
The guy loves his daughter.......and, I expect he's way smarter than many viewers will give him credit for, based solely on their judgemant of the way he talks and acts (which is typical of many southerners).
JMHO, FWIW.
-
I've seen "Pawn Stars" a couple times and liked it because they mention the history of some of the items. The episode I remember they had some early $ printed by Ben Franklin at the time when the Sec. of Treas. was a signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
KPR, About the Saiga, I did not see the show so I don't know what they did to it, (I assume they cut down the barrel )
but in a previous thread Badgersmilk mentioned that AK's and SKS are "overgassed".
So they probably did not need to mess with the port.

He let's her play Queen $h!t. I can all but guarantee you the old man runs everything from the ground up. She plays Monopoly with his money, as long as he oversees everything! Remember his line, "Don't worry about what I do!" He's kissing her a$$ and giving her a long leash, nothing more. If daddy kicked her out she'd starve, and she damn well knows it. Bill T.
