Here video of the shotgun in action.

From the KelTec promotional video, it does NOT look like a smooth cycling action. The operators look very jerky. Hopefully this is due to it just being a prototype or that the people aren't familiar with running a pump shotgun versus it being a poor design.

I caught that too. I also noticed no one went through all seven rounds either. Hmmm.... I don't know, but that video did not increase my desire to own one. Neither does the fact that they won't have a shootable version at the SHOT show. Too bad as its neat idea. Hopefully these are just growing pains.

The big thing I didn't like is that the first guy was able to cycle the slide on an empty chamber and had to pull the trigger (that loud click) to find out that the first tube was empty.
-
If you look at the comments, neither shooter had ever used the shotgun before.
Hell I'm that spastic with my 870. ;D
It does look like it kills at both ends.

Well, the video said that this was early testing...so perhaps there have been a few refinements to make the action smoother. Either way, the short distance needed to pump the thing impressed me.
As for the magnum loads....just save those for your goose gun...not much need for them in a SD shotgun.
Can't wait to see the videos when Mr. Bane and the Quinn Boys get ahold of their KSG's.... 8)

I just found this about the shotgun:
http://gunnuts.net/2011/01/20/kel-tec-ksg-shotgun-video/ (http://gunnuts.net/2011/01/20/kel-tec-ksg-shotgun-video/)
I'm thinking they need to address this before it hits the market.

That is a pretty obvious "oopsie". I mean how many people screw this up when firing rapid fire with a pump? It just seems like something you would plan for, and if not plan for, then notice PDQ during testing. That is a huge fail. As the replies noted, it will (hopefully) be fixed, but why didn't they catch this? ???

Wow!!! That is the way to turn a pretty good SD gun into an arcade plinker.
I noticed in the first videos the two guys shooting seemed to be having trouble with trigger manipulation....noticeably pausing to release it before pumping the slide. I thought they were just very inept at pump shotguns.
I can't believe this showed up at SHOT like this. Somebody at Kel-Tec doesn't have a clue about a couple of things.

My local gun pusher put in his order for ten LC9's and ten KSG's as soon as they were released.
I have no need for the LC9 - My .45acp is big enough, and the LCP fits well in the pocket. Unless the LC9 fits well in the pocket of dress slacks I do not see a reason to go there.
However, my name is on a KSG! Will see when it arrives, and I play with it, but I envision the front vertical grip coming off. I don't know the experience of the two shooters, but the short stroke so close to the body looks to be a problem with that grip. I also have not liked the vertical grip guns I have shot, so can see going without it. Smoothness of action - Charles Daly had a pump gun that was rougher than a cob out of the box, but after a few hundred rounds it was slick. Beyond that a little polish, used in moderation, never hurt any "gritty" action ;)
Both guns are supposed to hit his door late March to early April based on past experience. He said two to two and a half months after SHOT intro is typical.
I will keep you informed ;D

Will be good to hear your report, particularly about the trigger reset.
Take care.

I dont think your guy is being completely honest with you... One of the Kel-Tec reps told me that there was not a firm release date yet... He said "it will ship when its ready" and that it "Could be as late as December"

He didn't have dates for either in hand. He has ordered the guns, and he was just stating delivery based off past releases and availability. I go through there every six weeks or so, and he has my number ... ohhhhhh does he have my number. It will come when it comes, and I see it then.

Wisdom....I think
Some years ago, I'd order a scope or some other part, or have a gun on it's way back to me after having work done to it and I'd count every minute of the 5 to 10 working days they always quoted for delivery.
If it came while I was away and I missed signing for the delivery, I'd call UPS and tell them lies about going to be out of town for the next two weeks so they would let me meet the driver at the depot that evening. I just knew I could not wait for the next day and, God forbid, that it be a Friday with a weekend before deliver could be made.
A lot of anticipation and anxiety to go along with it.
Now, as I've "matured", I find I can order something and not think of it until it is being delivered. And if I miss the first delivery, I know I will have it at the very next delivery. No lies, no hand wringing, no angst at all...just pleasure when it does get to me.
Not sure if it's Wisdom or my poor memory at work here ;D ;D

You are still young :D. When I was your age, I was the way I described above. It may also be because I have many more things to occupy my time. Sort of like when you were young, you always needed to be going somewhere, sitting at home was a drag.
I am seldom
bored. If I ran out of things I wanted to do, I'd do housekeeping chores.....I have to force myself to do the minimum as it is.

I hereby officially volunteer to monitor and assist in range testing for this (and any other) gun you choose to acquire. ;D
