Boehner Opposes King’s Gun Control Bill

Everyone in Congress agrees that a tragedy such as Saturday’s Arizona shooting can’t be allowed to happen again. But they disagree about how to guarantee that. House Speaker John Boehner opposes a gun control bill that New York Republican Rep. Pete King, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, plans to offer in response to the disaster, The Hill reports.
Boehner,Pete King,Homeland SecurityKing’s proposal is to forbid people from carrying guns within 1,000 feet of members of Congress. Boehner spokesman Michael Steele says the speaker won’t support King’s legislation.
The office of Majority Leader Eric Cantor says he is withholding judgment until King completes his bill.
“Mr. Cantor believes it’s appropriate to adequately review and actually read legislation, (wait to see what the polls say) before forming an opinion about it,” Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring wrote in an e-mail to The Hill.

Good for Boehner. It's a knee-jerk, anti gun regulation, hard to enforce, and that the criminals and wacko's will IGNORE ANYWAY...

On the other hand, it might increase Ruger's scout rifle sales. ;D (oops, did I say that? Corner time). Seriousy, lets think about this. The leaders are afraid to be within 300 yards of the armed peasantry? They will admit this out loud and make it law? Has this guy even remotely thought through what he's inadvertantly saying about his own legitimacy? Dude, if you're that scared of us, there might be a personal reason. I'd suggest a new line of work. ::)

"Can't be allowed" - that is the short phrase that is both impossible and that could someday lead the the removal of more Rights than we can imagine WHEN they attempt.
