Just for grins, since it looks like they will go the way of the dodo, are these things any good? They look like a fun range toy and at about six bills are not outrageous. Still, the question is this. If its a "you bet your life" scenario would you rather have a ten round AK on steroids or an 870 or Mossy? Forget TEOTAWAKI where parts are an isue. Lets just deal with social work or a shotgun course/3 gun. Who wants or doesn't want a Saiga 12 and why? Just curious.

If it were up to me the Mossberg 590a1. Now if the Saiga 12 anything like my first AK I bought 13 years ago, and has seen about 10,000 rnds with out a hic up then go for it. I do prefer pumps becasue they 'll eat just about any 12ga load with out issue. Auto's just seem to complicated and ammo sensitivity is something I dont believe in.

I'd stick with the Mossberg because you can switch barrels for different uses, plenty of aftermarket mods and replacement parts are easy to find.
However, I have heard that the Saiga's are actually pretty good, even for skeet.

I want a Saiga, just because I think it's cool , and wish I'd bought a few when they were $275 each....
