What a dumb azz. He's unworthy enough to be a dumocrat. ::)I'm not sure either if these were improvements. Going to to a flatter shooting light round only makes sense if the accuracy supports it. The AK platform, in whatever chambering does not. It's a 100-200 yard gun. The 7.63x39 is ideal. It is relatively light weight and packs a lot of punch. I would take an AK 47 over an AK 74 any day even if the weapon and a lifetime supply of ammo were free. For a close, quick and dirty rifle it is hard to beat. I love my AR, but honestly, I could have it replaced with an AK by the gun fairy tonight and I wouldn't bitch. Its a great weapon. I still think a red dot is a great addition to any short to medium range rifle, but then my eyes aren't what they used to be either. Regardless, its a classic for a reason.
Not to mention that the 47 was phased out during the 80's and replaced with the AK-74 which is being phased out for the "Helical feed " Bizon.
