For Veteran's Day: A vet who understands the enemy we face
President Obama this week once again called Islam "a great religion" which has been "distorted" by a small number of "extremists" to justify committing acts of violence against the West.
But the Qur'an (or Koran) itself, the holy book of Islam, contains over 100 verses calling for violence against Christians and Jews. To give just one example, Sura 9:5 says, "Slay the idolaters wherever you find them."
During a panel discussion sponsored by the Hudson Institute last January, retired Army Lt. Colonel Allen West, who did combat duty in Iraq, responded to a Marine who asked the question, how do you answer people who say that terrorists are following a "warped" version of Islam?
The panel consisted of a number of former military personnel, who fumbled around trying to answer the question. Col. West finally stepped forward answered the question directly and truthfully. Listen to the words of a former military man who understands the nature of the enemy we face:
Notice again Col. West's straightforward assessment: "This is not a perversion. They are doing exactly what this book (i.e., the Qur'an) says."
Col. West, by the way, was elected last week to Congress, to represent Florida's 22nd congressional district. He will be the first African-American Republican congressman to represent Florida since 1870.

I've watched and listened to the Lt. Col. for some time. Except for the fact that he is really very little known outside of Florida, he appears to be a wise leader and an honest man. With the proper team behind him, he could indeed become a viable candidate. Most of what I have heard from him has been exactly on target. But after the disaster we are currently experiencing, do you think America is ready for another go for a man of color in the White House? I believe Odamna has set race relations in this country back about 50 years. Not making a judgement on the Lt. Col.'s run, just offering a thought.

Problem is the guy's a bit of a nut job and runs with the wrong crowd. He represents the district I SHOULD be in if it weren't for racial gerrymandering. >:(v Don't get me wrong, I'd have voted for him for Congress. But he associates with the Outlaws motorcycle gang (think Hell's Angel's lite, just don't say it to their face ;D) even going so far as to hire them for security. Now, as a hell raiser on the Hill, I wish him God speed. But as President? Not so much. Still, he has it right on guns and Islam and that's a good thing.

These are the same Leathernecks who are at every Patriot Guard mission. How do I know that? Because I’ve stood in flag lines with them and watched tears roll down their faces as some young soldier’s casket passes by. These are the same Leathernecks who have fought (and lost brothers) in order to preserve America and her freedoms.
The Leathernecks are not outlaws and, more specifically, they are not the Outlaws. [If they were, it is a safe bet there would not be any video footage alleging that the cameraman was thrown out "bodily."]
What is even more pathetic about Ron Klein and the Left’s attempt at assassinating Allen West’s character is that Ron Klein didn’t seem to have any trouble having his photo taken with the Leathernecks. Of course, that was before he considered them “outlaws.”

As I said TW, I'd have voted for the guy in a heartbeat (and not just to vote against Klein, who was awful), but I don't see the guy as POTUS material, at least not yet. As far as the Outlaws? Maybe the Palm Beach Post had it wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

If nothing else, a Gingrich/BHO POTUS debate would be fantastic to watch. Newt would shred BHO in a debate forum. With THE FACTS, although, I don't think Newt is a viable candidate, could be...

You don't live in Palm Beach county. Never has there been a bigger entitled whiner. I say this in ignorance of his political views, just from dealing with his constant fights with local government and his constant demands for this exemption or that from the rules the rest of us live by. If he puts forward a platform, I might change my mind, but until then, he gets the (very succesful) used car salesman treatment. He may be entertaining, but I wouldn't trust him.

As in Aventura aka North Miami Beach, Trump built his resort/towers, the old fashioned way....Buy the zoning/permitting/city council/inspectors, and fast track your construction.
Palm Beach was too corrupt and greedy, for even the "Donald"....
Go figure, they were all transplanted New Yorkers....Apple don't fall far,...... ::)

This is an A hole who voted for Obummer because Palin "has no experience". How much stupidity can fit inside one skull ?
As for Col. West, his "actions in Iraq", which resulted in him being booted out of the Army , was to threaten to shoot in the head a prisoner who was not cooperating with the female interpreter. He then fired a round beside the prisoners head. Said prisoner then sang like a canary giving information that saved the lives of several of his men.
Of course the anti American democrats, and academics went apeshit when they heard that American lives had been saved and screamed for his head.
If he runs for Pres I'll vote for him.

Take a midol Tom. Did I not post that I would have voted for the guy had I been in his district (which I should be in if weren't for racial gerrymandering crap)? I just don't think he's quite ready for prime time. Besides as Crusader said, and I hate to say it but he's right, after BO the bloom is off the rose for voting for a minority. BO didn't just get elected, he also managed to make someone like Jindal and West have a tougher row to hoe. :P The incident with the Iraqi was a solid move as far as I'm concerned and I have never mentioned it for that reason. As far as me being un-American? Again, midol, it works wonders.

I have said the same thing about what BHO has done to race relations in this country. And also echoed your remarks about people being gun shy to elect a black man to the white house. (hmm, look what happened the last time we did this....)
I don't think that this would be a huge hurdle for the Lt. Col. We are talking about a man who can, at any given moment come up with an accurate, intelligent, and concise answer to almost any question. Without stammering, or making excuses, or talking in circles. He has been on the front lines, he knows the history and the traditions of this country, and knows that it is that history and those traditions that make us great.
I wouldn't fear too much CR you are comparing a true American MAN (you know, the type with character, and principles) to yellow navel lint. For the real voters, skin color doesn't play into it. The problem is the other half that only CAN vote because there is no law against ignorance. In fact I'm starting to think most of our laws promote ignorance. ???
