I bought this G17 last week from a guy I know and with it came a bunch of extra magazines. All but 2 of them work exceptionally well and all are factory magazines. Or so it seemed. There are 2 magazines that are marked Glock (Logo) Austria on them. The difference I'm noticing with these 2 mags are that they both feel lighter than the others, have small circular "dimples" along either side of the mag body and don't seat in the gun very well at all. Almost like you have the slam them in even when empty. I put one in the gun and I have to press the mag release and pull the mag out. It seems that the floor plate is causing the issue when I look at it. NOTE: other than the dimples on the sides they are virtually identical.
Just curious if anyone has had similar issues or if these may somehow be much earlier design magazines. The alternative is that they are gun show knock offs.

The magazines that came with my first Glock 19 I bought 20 years ago were not drop free. Sounds like you may have some of thous. All the new mag's I have bought lately will drop free, full or empty. Hope this helps.
