Title: Pass the popcorn! Wisconsin Dems running away!
Post by: JC5123 on February 17, 2011, 03:20:25 PM
Been following this and laughing my butt off! I keep hoping for the slow speed chase when the state troopers locate the stolen school bus with 14 dim senators in it!   ;D ;D ;D

I posted the same on the politics thread....

Let the cops find them, let the Dems show their true side. Seems the protesters didn't get the memo on "civility" either, as Gov. Walker is "targeted" in crosshairs, and Hitler.

Gee, they'll have to contribute 12% towards their own healthcare, and 5.8% toward their OWN retirement.....

and the unions in essence go on strike.... OBTW, FWIW, Police and Fireman are exempt.

Nice.

Nice.

I pay about 50% of my premiums (550 a month) with another $5000.00 in deductibles for the family.  I'll be out nearly 8 grand before they pay for more than my wifes medications (which run me another 300 a month in co-pays.)

AND I STILL DON'T WANT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!

boo, hoo unions....pay up or STFU!  Try living in the real world.

Isn't it funny that all the ones who demanded socialist medicine for you want themselves exempted ?

For years the private sector has been hearing about how they have to "do more with less" as our bennies are eaten away.
Time for these f*ckers to share some of the pain.

For years we've had a dim governor and a dim controlled legislature who were happy to play the "we'll steamroller your objections on the way to passing our bills" game. Now the tide has turned and the pantywaists pick up their ball and run away rather than play in the sandbox they built.

They were already feeling really put out because their guy Doyle was all for Obama's high speed rail package, the new guy said "we'll take your money if we can use it for infrastructure instead of a money wasting boondoggle" When the feds said no he said shove it.

Now Walker says “hey our economy is hurting and it is time for our state workers to share the pain and the only way I see to make that happen is reduce the power of the unions”. The response from state workers(especially the teachers union members)... “Oh dear lord how dare he take our rights from us, let’s protest”. I didn’t see any of these clowns out protesting when the rest of us were told to make due with less and pay more for it.

Last but not least- my favorite bit from the news coverage of the protests was on last night. Some reporter was interviewing a UW Madison student that was out protesting and she was saying how she is out there to show solidarity with her teachers and to make sure they get what they deserve. The part the makes this so great is that I remember seeing this same “politically active” rocket scientist interviewed within the last year protesting the tuition increase in the UW system. If those are the critical thinking skills her teachers had given her over the years, I hope they do get what they deserve...zip, nadda, nothing.

While the politics of this whole situation have me fuming. This is the most entertaining thing I have seen in a long time. I was laughing all night talking with friends about this.

You can't make this stuff up! 14 Dem senators hijack a (short) bus and flee the state. Then show up at a hotel in IL calling CNN with their "list of demands"! So what, they are holding themselves hostage now?

I read a post on Fox news this morning that I thought was a great idea, one of the Rep. Senators should change his party affiliation for the day so that they can vote this budget through and move it on. Getting something accomplished and making the Dems even more irrelevant.  I don't know for sure if it could be done, but would be a master stroke if it could.

Good idea in theory, but I don't think that would work.  It's my understanding that the lack of 20 senators is the problem, not the lack of a Dem.

How is it that elected officials can willingly and openly not do there job without getting fired?

When I worked in the IT dept. of a local school district, we were exempt from SS but paid the same percentage to a privately run but state regulated retirement company.  The school district matched our contribution, just like an employer would under SS.

The big difference was that no one could touch the contributions.  The organization handling the funds would invest them keeping to the state rules about such investments.

Our department would visit their IT dept. on occasion as a tech exchange experience.  We immediately noticed that everything was state of the art.  When we asked about it, it was explained that the investment folks were doing such a good job that the income was above what was allowed by state law so they had to increase expenses.  Modern furniture, fixtures, new computers ever six months or more, they has to spill money just to stay legal.  And the retirement benefits were still better than what would be paid by SS.

Sickens me to think how the general populace has been robbed by SS.

While I don't agree with S.S. to begin with, the real problem started when congress decided to take it out of the trust so they could use that money for other things. Ever since then it has become a giant ponzy scheme that Bernie Madoff would be proud of.

It isn't SS that is screwing the American public. It was a good idea, and it was probably the only Govt. social program that ever actually worked.
There are 2 reasons it is now broke.
The first was the out right theft committed by DEM, Johnson by taking OUR money out of the legally mandated trust fund to fund his totally useless "Great Society" welfare boondoggle.
The Second was the decision, based on Al Gores deciding vote, to give OUR money to illegal aliens.
No matter how often the DEMS lie about Reps. "destroying Social security". The truth remains that it is in fact another victim of  the criminality underlying the entire Dem agenda.

In a "RICO" Indictment this would be considered a "predicate offense", when combined with things like Obummercare's unconstitutional clauses, and Congresses continuing refusal to enforce their own immigration laws by cracking down on illegal immigration, it constitutes a pattern of continuing criminal activity putting them in exactly the same category as the Mafia.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the mafia have (continue to have) strong ties to unions?

usmcdadx2,

Can you explain to me what the issue is that they can't vote with these clowns AWOL?  There are only fourteen of them on the run.  Does Wisconsin have some whacky thing that says they have to be there?

AP is reporting today that "the GOP orders Troopers" to round them up.  Yesterday it was the Gov. that ordered the Troopers to find them and hall them back.  Today the majority leader went with the Troopers to get one, but he didn't answer the door at his home.

Vote aye or vote nay, but have the respect to show up and work within the system!

Texas Dems ran for a re-districting vote, it eventually passed but,....remember the Lib mantra,....

"I'll take my toys and go home, if I don't get what I want".....

Just like a 4 year old.

M58, they need to have a quaruum to vote. there are not enough Republicans to form one, they are one body short.

  Warm body       ;D

Based on the size they need 20 members for a quarum, there are only 19 Republicans.   Seems small but I think that was the number I saw on Fox

There must be a process for declaring a member delinquent and replacing them.  Probably some length of time as a No Show...even if their whereabouts are known.

Wonder how long before that kicks in.

I'd imagine the Gov. might have some authority to appoint a replacement.

I'd sit tight if I were in charge of the Republicans and start that process.  See who flinches first.

The Texas dems did this in 2000 or 2001 when redistricting came up. It didn't stop the inevitable outcome then and it won't do them any good now. I heard on the news yesterday, that one of the wisckydem senators admitted that the unions would eventually have to pay. OH and KY are both contemplating similar bills.
