so who has been watching it and what do you think
http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/sons-of-guns/
just asking before i give my thoughts ;D

It's OK. It just seems like the guy is always on to something "big" that winds up going nowhere. 3 guns here, 5 guns there. It's gun related, so that's a big plus. The more gun shows on TV the better in that regard. It also gets a little tiring seeing him propping up his daughter all the time. It's not like she would be missed if she went shopping, or went to get lunch for the guys. More or less a bitchy answering machine that is all staged for the show. Bill T.

DUMB show

I enjoy watching. It's like Cake Boss with guns. :)
-
It's not too bad. Tattoos and guns, whats not to like??? ;D ;D
-
My Dad has been watching it, he seems to think it's pretty cool.

I enjoy it. Guns, tattoos, a cute chick and blowing shit up. What's not to like?

Interesting show, but they try to make it sound like none of this has ever been done before.
They grafted a shotgun onto an M-16. See "Predator", the Indian guy carried one.
They built a toy bazooka for WWII re-enactors. I've build rockets to launch out of my LAW tube. If I thought I could get $1000 for them I would still be making them.
The best thing I've seen them do was rebuilding the flamethrower for the MOH WWII vet.
Since I've never heard of Red Jacket firearms before the show, I woud have to say they are GOOD gunsmiths, but not necessarily GREAT gunsmiths.

I watched the night they built a Ma Deuce from a kit then proceeded to light the Louisiana swamp on fire shooting tracers.
While I appreciate the southern, laid back, hillbilly mentality, it doesn't make them look like the brightest bunch of guys out there. Kind of like a Marriage advice show with Jesse James as the leading authority.

I've only seen a few episodes, but I like the show. Their specialty, from what I've gathered, is suppressed firearms. They ARE new and innovative in their particular niche of the industry. Where else have you seen an integrally suppressed AK or a suppressed shotgun? Maybe they were already out there and I've been spending too much time under my rock. In terms of sales, 3 here and 4 there may not seem like much, but these are first runs to single buyers. I'm sure the numbers look much better after the product is established, plus they aren't cheap.

THAT was a cool episode. The way the MOH awardee's eyes lit up was awesome.

was good to see what they did for Old Mate

I think it is a cool show
reason is that they are showing people having fun with guns
as the same with Top Shot
the more shows like this is a good thing

Red Jacket was pretty big in the AK/Saiga market before the show and the publicity they're getting off the show isn't hurting them any. They are one of the best Saiga conversion shops in the US. The show itself has lots of fluff but like BillT said, any show that gives a positive platform to guns and gun owners is more than welcome on tv. The thing that bugs/irritates me about it is through editing they make it look like you can just walk in and buy a NFA weapon. They mention the paperwork but only once have I heard them mention the 4-24 weeks that your tax stamp can take to come back.

I've heard them say it a few times. For example, the guy wanting to buy a suppressed gun for the weekend trip then getting mad and leaving because it would take several weeks. Another was the tommy gun episode: took the gun back from the police and said something along the lines of "get it back to you in 5 weeks."
As a whole, the show's alright. Nothing spectacular.

I read abou the Katana rifle that they built for Tiger McKee LONG before I'd really heard about Red Jacket. They have a niche that they've carved out as far as I can tell. Like Bill Wilson has done with 1911's.
It isn't the greatest show, but I REALLY want a master key. It lists for around $1800. About what we'd pay for a higher end AR I'm sure we'd have to pay the $200 tax stamp but it would be worth it.
I do enjoy it and I do enjoy it more than I do alot of Shooting USA and definately WAY more than Top Shot. They tend to be more whiney than the gal on Sons of Guns

The suppressed AK and Saiga were both impressive. I've added those to my wish list.

Enjoy!

I like the show. The Red Jacket poster girl isn't bad either.

Somebody PLEASE tell her zippers don't have to be zipped that high up!

I enjoy the show. It's about guns in a positive and creative way, although I think a great deal of what we see is mugging for the camera. You don't think most of that is unrehearsed and spontaneous, do you?

Sorry, I know its about guns and all. But seem's their target audience is the 10 year old mentality. Sorta like "A Team", but then I've gotta admit. When I was 10 "A Team" was pretty darn cool!!! ;)
