This was brought up in a different thread, but wanted to separate it as not to drift. Also, it didn't seem to fit in any of the other topic headings.
Has anyone used an external ballistic calculator app for a Droid type PDA?
I am looking for possible reviews as it is well documented how some apps can take over your phone, or download unwanted and dangerous programs that compromise security of the phone. If some of you have used a specific app without issue, I would feel much better about downloading it.
Thanks for the help,
Tankerdad

Try Winchester, they have one for iPhone so imagine they have or will come out with one for DROID.
-
I hope they come out with a Droid version, but at this time all they have is the iphone version.

There is an app called "Shooter" in the app market for 9.99 usd. It is a 5 star rated app (rare these days)
http://sean.kndy.net/shooter/
You can scan the barcode there to install the app on your droid.
I use the app pretty often at the range, let me know if you have any questions it is by far the best 10 bucks I have spent on an app.

I have tried the free ones; not worth the price. :(

I can agree fully on the free ones. I know I am new to the forum so my first post being a plug for an app might not look too great, but you should look into the shooter app.
I have been using the android platform since its inception so when I see an android question I tend to jump right in.
I hope someone with a little cred on the forum can back up this app, I love it.

Welcome MCPhoto. Jump right in. At least your first post was gun related and not about booze or broads.
(But you will eventually. Eventually everyone succumbs to the dark forces. They have cookies.....and Glocks)
I'm appreciate your input. From it's web page the app just seems like it could be overwhelming. I'm planning on buying it today. One neat thing about smart phones and developers is the tremendous reach allows them to sell for less per copy. The same app on a PC/MAC would probably be $100.

Bought it today. Of course I haven't had a lot of time to play with it.
Installed smoothly. I've entered about 6 guns with just minimal info. (height of sights above bore) I started on one ammo load and took some guesses as to the parameters since I was at lunch and didn't have my reloading book. Then I asked it to do the math and it looks cool.
Over the next couple of days, I'll add some more "loads" and other info to test.
I can't wait to take it to the range and compare actuals.

Haha, Im not a glock guy myself, I will stick to my M&P for tupperware. And I tend to stick to on-topic related threads on forums, though you might catch me dabbling a little, who can pass up a good ale.
If you need any help with the app let me know I use it pretty often.

Thanks to all for the info. I will get on checking out the options. Then try to get the wife to let me buy whatever it is! LOL

I have "Shooter" on my Droid. I took it to the range today and it is ALOT better than the free one I did have.
