Larry the Cable Guy commented how some people believe the Second Amendment gave the Right to the people, and some people believe the Right was given to the militia. He goes on to state he is an avid hunter and equates guns to birth control and deep fried wings - "I'm glad they are there if I need them." ;D
-
"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American.... [T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."
(Tench Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.)
OBTW,......Get er' dun,.... ::)

The anti's have been screaming "Militia" for decades. They contend the Second Amendment gives the right to keep and bear arms only to the Militia, and not the people. The Heller Decision proved them wrong. The Militia IS the people.
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
What part of, "The Right Of The PEOPLE", Don't they understand? Bill T.

The only real problem that I see is that We the People have dropped the ball when it comes to the Well Regulated Militia part. The sheep have forgotten WHY we have the RKBA. That it is not for sport, but that it is a civic duty to be armed in defense of our nation. Also that is our duty to throw off government that has grabbed power beyond its constitutional constraints.

You are absolutely correct.
I have never found an anti who can explain to me why the other 9 amendments that, along with the 2nd, comprise the Bill of Rights enumerate INDIVIDUAL rights, but only the 2nd enumerates the rights of the government. Doncha think the Founding Fathers were a tad more consistent than that?

Govt's don't have "Rights", they have "Powers".
Only individuals have "Rights".
-
The Second Amendment does not give us the right to be armed. It forbids the government from infringing on that God given right.

What is all this Second Amendment talk ???
I'm just here for the fried twinkies ;D
