Title: Apocolypse Man?
Post by: SwoopSJ on February 25, 2011, 10:09:56 AM
Has anyone else seen this History Channel program?  I watched bits and pieces of it this morning and wasn't impressed.  There were a few handy tips, but most of it was rubbish.  The main thing that comes to mind is, if you are prepared for a society changing event, which this program is supposed to assist you in doing, wouldn't you want to AVOID cities?  The program begins with him suggesting the exact opposite.  ???  I for one, unless necessity prevented it, would prefer to keep as much distance between me and other survivors as possible.  Yes, you may have to scavenge from time to time, but being prepared beforehand would likely have a much better outcome in a survival scenario.  I'll be hunkered down with a cache of supplies, thank you.  If I know you and you BYOB, your welcome to join me.  Just be sure you know the secret knock and handshake or you may receive an unpleasant greeting.   ;)

Small towns where the population can work together for a shared goal (survival, whether the threat be flood, blizzard, social upheaval or what ever ) are good. Cities, where every one is out for themselves are to be avoided just like any other war zone.

Yeah, as long as your wearing sandals, we can skip the formalities, Haz.   :)
