I've been in the market for a good survival knife & Grayman Knives has my interest big time. Anyone have any experience with their knives? They have a great warranty & seem unstoppable.

No first hand experience with grayman knives sorry but to me it sounds like you need a decent and well made khukuri!
Can be used to chop, skin, self defence, easy to maintain, everything you need in a survival situation
Lots of different profiles and blade sizes on a main design. Just a thought.

What is that icon at the start of your post? It looks kinda like a cell phone. (not showing in the quote above)
-
I ordered a Grayman. Their "if you break it we'll replace it" policy & the testimonials/reviews were just too good to pass up. I don't see the icon you speak of but since I'm on my BlackBerry I'm guessing it is a cell phone.
-
Haz, I saw a similar icon in an advertisement for Mozzila "FireFox 4" for phones.
-
Ya, it seems if ya post from one o' them there fancy phone thingies it puts that up. ;)
-
It doesn't show it while I'm accessing the site from the phone but I'll check it on my PC at home when I'm done "working" my fingers to the bone.

A review is warranted upon arrival.... Its the LAW!

I'd just stick with Cold Steel, or Buck.
Sticking to the theory of using the proper tool for the job, I have a Buck #105 for cutting, and a hand forged trail axe from Snowe and Neely in Bangor Me. (Not THAT Snowe ;D )

In this day and age why do you need to "behead a water buffalo?" Ban it! ;)

Ritual sacrifices are part of the Gurkha religion.
Being practical little feller's they are usually followed by a feast of Buffalo meat. ;D

I bought an Al Mar 10" survival knife in the early '90s but sold it because it was bigger than I thought practical for back country travel. It was one of the last knives produced before Al Mar died so there was a collectable value to it as well and decided to sell it. After some research, I discovered Chris Reeve knives and bought one of their Nkonka models. I really like the fact that it is made from a solid billet of steel and is very durable. I had a bad experience with a Ka-bar in the service while on duty in Viet Nam. I had one break at the hilt so I am very concerned as to how strong a knife is.

Nice looking blade. What are the dimensions? Also how is the grip? I'm generally not a fan of metal handles. I like something sticky, and failing that, wood or bone. Honestly the strenghth seems like a huge plus. Downside is that if I were using it for anything serious I'd be half tempted to put a little skateboard tape on the handle (just from looking at it). What's your take?

The knife is about 12" long, the blade is about 6 1/2" and the handle has a very secure grip surface, much like my Les Baer 1911. I don't know the exact lines per inch but I guess somewhere between 20 to 30 lpi. It weighs in at almost exactly one pound, that is a lot of steel. The only downside to the knife is that they were discontinued a while back because Chris's partner, the one who designed it, retired. They have other great quality knives though.
