Wasn't there a promise during the campaign about open and transparent procedures? Isn't everything supposed to happen out in the open with plenty of time to read, study, debate and consider before any action or votes?
Today the big news is that Pres. BHO wants the complete education bill redone prior to the start of the next school year. If a new bill is going to be in effect for mid-August it needs to be passed prior to the end of the school year this may (ten weeks away at the most).
I agree that No Child Left Behind is not perfect, but it is better when it comes to evaluation and accountability than anything we have had since the Feds took over in the 60's. The speech was just this morning and details are still coming out, but can you imagine the agenda that will be a part of this bill and the dark corners designed to hide health, guns, etc. in?
I can not even begin to try and give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Every time I try to look at things from his point of view he blind sides me with crap like this. He has honestly earned the knee jerk accusations we throw at him, because he sneaks around lining things up and then hits hard and fast to keep us off balance.

No more teachers unions, No more tenure, pay based on performance, and teach Reading, Writing, History (American ! ) English, and math.
Performance proves that "throwing money" at education does no good.

Dream on! If you followed the Bushes on their plan you would remember everything on your list except the union issue. No Child Left Behind was Mrs. Bush's deal, and Pres. "W" added to it to improve quality even more. However, if you think that our current Pres. is going to leave anything that demands and rewards excellence, much less punishes sloppiness and incompetence you are sadly mistaken and obviously not fully ready for the glass in your KY >:(

Sorry, I didn't think it through.
I was busy cleaning my 12Ga democrat repellent. ;D

Actually the original NCLB bill was written by TED KENNEDY and pushed by Bush. Once it went South (very fast) it became Bush's.

My understanding is that Pres. Bush went to the Senator because it was one of the few areas they agreed, and he knew it would help. There were some Kennedy items that got stuffed in, but it got Pres. and Mrs. Bush the basics of what they were looking for. I was shocked that the Senator left in as much accountability as he did when he put it up!
