ASBURY PARK — The state fiscal monitor who oversees financial operations in the school district Thursday morning ordered the closing of the Barack H. Obama Elementary School as of July 1.
Students next year will go to the district's two other more modern elementary schools -- Thurgood Marshall on the east side and Bradley on the west side.
Bruce Rodman, the monitor, made the decision after the school board in recent weeks failed to support a plan by Schools Superintendent Denise Lowe to reconfigure elementary grades to create early childhood learning centers in the district, a plan which would have kept the Obama school open.
Officially renamed early in 2010 after the president, the building was known as the Bangs Avenue School since it was built a century ago. The state School Development Authority had planned to build a new school to replace the historic building, but has pulled back and Lowe said recently the state would not build a new school.

Indonesia removed the statue they put up to him at the school he attended there as well.
If he goes ahead and bombs Libya they will make him give back the Wal Mart Peace Prize he bought too.

I think Carter is breathing a little easier. He no longer will be considered "the worst pres.........".

I cant understand why they name schools after presidents in the states?
Like naming bank after gangster, who would bank at Bonny and Clydes Savings and Loan or Capones National Mutual. Hell I mean who in their right mind would send their kids to Barack Obama High? .........Oh yeah now I remember, :-X

Should at least wait till his out of office.

We should have good luck removing that schools namesake in 2012--and for the same reason.

Now if we can just get the Obummer administration closed down (for the same reason, lack of $ )
we will be on the road to recovery.

Good point. Frankly, I would favor a law forbidding naming any public property or erecting a memorial to any elected official until after they leave office. Their egos are big enough as it is.

I'd take that a step further, and require it can't happen until after they assume room temperature.
BTW, welcome back FQ. We've missed you. It's not as much fun to verbally beat on anybody else here. ;D
