Title: If you like old style single actions ...
Post by: MikeBjerum on March 21, 2011, 08:43:51 AM
... this is a gun for you!

I have the Longhorn in nickel and .357.  I love the gun, and there is something about having the spurred hammer that just makes me feel good all over!  I know that it is a legal department's nightmare, but it doesn't bother me at all.

One of the best grabs, was my Uberti. It is just accurate, and damn smooth.

I love it, won't part with it, and don't ever feel undergunned with an "old" SA revolver. The Winchester Silvertip JHP's in 45Colt, even work on Werewolves and Zombies.

P.S. I would love another one...

Perhaps I'm a little back ward but why would this gun be Legal departments nightmare?

The spurred hammer!

If you put the hammer down on an unfired round dropping the gun or even bumping the hammer will cause it to go bang.  It is the same idea as the three screw Ruger recall only worse.

That's why with any Colt Clone or Ruger 3 screw you only carry "5 beans in the wheel" with the hammer resting on the empty chamber, if dropped or even hit the wrong way they can discharge

A friend of mine has a pair of the AWA's that he uses for CAS, They had one of the best actions out of the box that I have ever seen. If you can find one(or more) pick it up, You won't be disappointed.

It's a beaut but I wouldn't own it because I have Rugers and my loads are usually around 1100fps or better.  I'd be afraid of mixing ammo.

TW, I was referring to the original post. I'm was as lost on that as you are. I hope the OP wasn't referring to the empty chamber as someone mentioned.

Thanks Pecos. Except for my internal hammered snubby, I generally put as Majer puts it: "5 beans in the wheel" of my six guns. Hammer down on empty chamber.

But I love strapping big iron on and enjoying my SA Blackhawk, and Uberti.  They are timeless, and a fantastic platform.

Most people are smart enough to not poke fun at those that run around with four loaded guns, bandoleers of ammo, and say things like "Fill your hand you son of a bitch!"
