Man Brings Beer to DWI Court Appearance
He was also allegedly carrying four more cans in a bag.

A 49-year-old man is in Sullivan County Jail without bail after authorities say he showed up for a court hearing on a felony DWI charge drunk and carrying an open can of Busch beer, plus four more cans in a bag.
The Middletown Times Herald-Record reports that Keith Gruber of Swan Lake was an hour and a half late for his court appearance Monday before Sullivan County Judge Frank LaBuda, who asked him if he enjoyed his "liquid lunch."
Gruber said he did, then said he was sorry.
LaBuda sent him to jail with no bail.
"It was obvious he was intoxicated," LaBuda said.
Gruber, who has prior DWI convictions, was arrested on Dec. 27 in the town of Liberty and was out on $30,000 cash bail.

Keith, Keith, Keith...if you're going to show up hammered for your DWI hearing, drinking a beer and carrying some more, AT LEAST BE ON TIME!
Promptness shows responsibility. Being late....well that just gives the illusion of carelessness. ::)

How can you call him careless? He brought more beer didn't he? That shows prior preperation. ;D

Simple, he didn't bring enough for everyone! ;)

A ......... man .............. carrying an open can of Busch beer, plus four more cans in a bag.
CAN? CANS? Okay right there it shows no class. CANS are what beans come in. Or worms. Beer comes in dark brown bottles.
AND it was Busch! I don't think he should see daylight for some time.

One thing that age and wisdom has given me is the knowledge that.....
If it has a pull tab or a twist off cap, it's not worth drinking!

Molly Dooker, Australian Shiraz. Peter Lehmann Cabernet, or the Kaesler Iron Horse Grenache,...all around $20-$25 bucks a bottle, all have twist tops, the Aussie's got it figured out. 8)
Certainly not the Boone's Farm, we enjoyed, suffered through as younger folk.,..,.,.,., :P

Gotta agree with TW on the wine thing. I used to be a bit of a wine snob (the perils of youth). I figured out though that screw tops, including some very good Aussie and now Cali wines, not only bottle age just fine, but they have two advantages over corks. First, they don't get "corked" which is what happens when the cork dries out or rots and spoils the wine. The second is that if you want to save an open bottle for a day or two, the screw top does a better job than the vacum seal rubber stoppers like Vacuvin that I had been using. I say mere power to the screw tops. As far as cans? I have a very strict "no glass in the boat" policy so if I'm afloat, its out of a can.

I'm not sure about any where else, but our local court house has 2 signs by the door, the smaller one says" no weapons", the larger one says "no food or beverages"

Is that because cans decompose faster when you through your empties in the lakes and rivers ?
I congratulate your environmental awareness ! ;D

Have to pass on the Al Gore award. Its because I'm often barefoot in the boat and I don't want broken glass around. ;D

Up here, drinking and driving a boat is the same as driving a car. Busted.....and never a good idea.
It applies to ALL watercraft. They'll yank your drivers license in a heartbeat.

Its a bit different here in Fl. You can drink and boat, you just can't be drunk.(a common sense law that ought to apply to cars). Bottom line is that one or two are fine, more than that, you get a DWI if you blow over .08. The passengers can drink their fill, which is as it should be. A sober driver, and the rest is no one else's business. Its not just beer though, the no glass thing applies to any food or drink container. In a boat waves cause people to drop stuff and it hits a hard deck. You can clean all you want, but there is always that little sliver of glass you miss right up till you step on it. :P

Having grown up in Michigan, lived in Florida, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Iceland and a United States Navy Veteran, I've never been on a boat!
kidding.......I agree that glass of any kind is not a good idea on a boat.
it's true that in my six years of Naval service, I never set foot on a ship or sub though...

OK. Top five, but the man of the year award, so it were, has to go to a group. We've seen that before in, what is it?...Time's Man of the Year??? Anyway, the number one award...it has to go to all those souls who brilliantly, insightfully and gleefully put that dumb ass in as president. Number two goes to the dumb ass cukoo-in-chief himself who had enough insight, gall and bullshit to get the group in number one to vote for him so he's not as dumb as his supporters.
I'm just saying TW....this guy can be no higher than #3 on the list.

NH is pretty much the same, Marine Patrol will bust you on the lake, I don't know about row boats and canoes.
-
I went to renew my driver's license last week.
I had to decide what to wear for the picutre....my Guinness T-Shirt or my Jack Daniels T-Shirt.
I wore the Jack Daniels....it went with my Jack Daniels Field Tester ball cap. Also, I didn't want the folks there to think I was a beer swilling pleb.
I made the right choice....I got a lot of admiring stares from the folks there.
They did make me take off my cap for the picture though.

Aw, c'mon Alf....you and I both know that if he had done that in a Georgia courtroom it wouldn't have even been newsworthy. I can hear Foxworthy now, "If you bring a 5-pack of beer to your OWI trial, you MIGHT be a redneck!!"

Yea, I should have said "motorized watercraft or sailcraft"...

seriously! show me the law that says you can't do that. I think the other 4 beers were for the bailiff, the judge, the prosecuter, and the court reporter. he was totally being generous, not careless!

I am so beside myself and upset at BHO's war, that I plumb forgot about poor ole' Charlie Sheen. I need to recant.
I'm just saying TW....this guy can be no higher than #4 on the list.....errr, uh...wait a minute, thought coming through.....
But wait...there is Reid, Pelosi, AG Holder, and so on.
I'm just saying TW....there are way many more dumb asses than you can count before you ever get to this guy.

At least the drunk guy has an excuse, those assholes Rastus listed are SOBER, (Except for Charlie Sheen of course ;D )
