Since July of 2010, there have been seven incidents within 15 miles of me.  One shooting, two robbery and four "other"....

I can see the Town Constable from my living room window....The boonies suits me just fine!

I found one of my neighbors from my last address on this site.  I wish they gave more details.

Yeah, pretty much screwed.

Live across the street from a Pathways group home.  "Reverend Jim" likes to walk upand down the street with a bible in one hand an a staff in the other.  Periodically he stops and praises then continues on.  The others pretty much stay to themselves.

The Rescue Squad has made getting to know the local Deputies and Troopers pretty well so I get all the "dirt" on the neighbors pretty regularly.  Occasionally they ask to keep an eye on a couple different houses to see if a certain thug shows up and look for signs of dealers.

And the kids wonder why the glock is in my room and the AR and shotgun aren't that far awat=y.

WOW!  They even show the pictures of these creepers.  After looking at a bunch of them I have to say...  That dude's got sex offender written ALL OVER HIM!

At least none of them were TOO close.  :-\

No, I don't. And I like it that way.
I don't care whether they have revival meetings or kill hookers just as long as they do it quietly and don't disturb me.
If they can't work with that we are going to have a problem.
The one next door has already gotten "adjusted".  ;D

Nifty, but kind of of scary website. My "hood" is safe. One burglary last year. (The muslim, and I'm not making this up, jackass chose the home of a former Reublican Governor of Florida's house, and his get away vehicle was a Lexus. He might as well have worn a suicide vest. He is done, stick a fork in him. ;D). Still, its a useful tool.

PS To my detractors, its not a ritzy neighborhood. Just a basic suburb  (maybe $200k if you get lucky). Three bedroom one story places with a gate (which I hate, but its the norm here in So. Fl. and TW will back me on that)., You really have to work hard to avoid them down here as most homes are part of "developments" with Homeowners associations and all the goes with them. :P.

What is funny is about 2 miles from me there is a large gated community. The homes there are quite large and expensive compared to the surrounding area. Melanie and I have both commented several times how that would be a desirable thing to have being gun owners and all. I clicked the area and the whole place lit up like a Christmas Tree! I was surprised at all of the theft and burglaries in the whole walled in place.

Actually most everywhere you click on shows more crime than you would expect. This is what happens with poor parenting, lousy academics by kids, coupled with a high dropout rate, gangs, drugs, and most everything else on the rise that is no good. Salt it all over with high unemployment, a ton of illegal invaders, and a lenient court system and pretty soon you'll have to keep someone at home all the time. That's what we do 95% of the time now. If you value your stuff you have to protect it. ADT isn't going to do it for you. We've always had crime, but it's a shame it has evolved into this.  Bill T.

Not to worry Tom. The hookers in this country are far better protected than your or my home is. The cops in this country spend millions on "sting" operations to nab johns trying to get laid, while your home and mine gets successfully burglarized. Were lucky if they swing by afterward to fill out a report. But they're right on top of some poor, homely guy trying to get a B.J.  Bill T.

Billt, better to steal from homes that have something.

KY has a listing of sex offenders adresses.  Our office manager looks at and finds out her sister is dating one! He not living in his registered address. She calls the troppers and he's back in the pookey in less than a day.

I live in a small town(less than 5000). last friday night we had 23 vehicle break ins. My sons car was one of them, all they got was change. Two of my neighbors cars were broke into also. A few houses down they tore up a guys dash trying to get his stereo out. The local cops think it's a group of teenagers, but they also broke in garages and stole tools. Sounds like a group that knows what they are doing to me.

Not if they only "tried" to get his stero out. Someone who knows what they were doing would have gotten it. Though why I don't know. Cars have come stock with pretty good ones for years. I can't imagine the market for used ones is all that great.

Not surprisingly, nothing close for me, maybe 10-12 miles? But hey, that's ND for ya!!!  ;D

Same for all 3 locations in ND where I have lived - nothing anywhere close.

Evanston, IL, however, where I started out, is a whole 'nuther story. Car break-in just last month across the alley from where I used to live.

My original hometown in northern IL, in spite of huge growth (3500 when I was a kid to nearly 40,000 people now) is still relatively crime-free. North Aurora, another 'nuther story!

The website is out of date for my area, it only lists one shooting from last August (No one hit, domestic beef ), since then there have been a half dozen break in's and home invasions. (all drug related).

Almost every state has a free official .gov search for sex offenders.

http://www.doc.ks.gov/kasper/links

This page has the links to most state corrections sites.

All crime is higher than average around here. The city is broke and the first thing they cut was police.

This will all get worse as unemployment rises and more and more people lose their homes, cars, and credit. About all that will do good is cigarette and booze sales. People always drink more when things look like crap.  Bill T.

Actually, I do.  After 30 years of police work in California and Oregon, in urban areas where most folks fear to tread, I learned a lot about where to live, and where not to.  After retirement, we found a gated community, for 55+ year old adults only, in a rural village 20+ miles from the metro area.  Not only is our community gated, anyone who wishes to buy into the community, must pass a background check.  I wormed my way onto the Board of Directors, as vice president, and know most of the 146 other home owners in our little co-op.  They all know me and my background, and most are also gun owners.   I sleep very soundly at night.
