Well after a bit of a saga trying to find one I managed to track one down and get ahold of it.
I have nick named her my Big Bada Boom
BTW how much is brass over your neck of the woods its like a 1.00+ each over here.
First pic is her by her lonesome and the second is a pic of her slumming it with a plastic fantastic for size comparison, cos size is important!

Wow! A 460 Smith. Man I'd like one. 460S&W, 454 Casull, 45LC.
Anytime, one of those wants to "turn up" on my door step, I wouldn't mind.

She's a big girl for sure, but what a beauty she is! Report on how she runs is mandatory. ;D
-
can not wait to try it out in May ;D ;D

That stuff's about $50 to $60 per 100 up here west of the Peoples Republic of Illinois. Don't know the exchange rate but I hope that doesn't make you feel too bad.
Have fun with the beast, you've got more b___s than I've got.

Bro-in-law has one, they are actually a blast to shoot. Muzzle blast is worst than recoil. Feels like someone hit you in the face with a whiffle ball bat, nose runs a little and it takes a bit the get the shit eatin grin off your face. Have fun!

Well these are prices I was quoted today and they are pretty decent for here abouts
454 $97.25/100
460 $60.75/50
projectiles 200gr FTX $60.35/50
240gr XTP MAG $57.65/100
300gr XTP MAG $30.65/50.
I have heard one needs to use plugs and ear muffs when shooting it.
I pity the poor fool that stands beside me............. Like Phil ;D
Will teach the bastard for not inviting me along on his fishing trip!

This doesn't help in the least. I've got a one-time deal with the gun range, good till August. A one time purchase for $50 over dealer cost. So many guns to choose from. The 460 just got push to the top of the wish list.......again.

I like it you can use .45lc, .454 or the 460 earzen splitzen wood given boom bangers with it.
If legalities allowed I think I would have gone down the S&W 500 path just because LOL

Yeah. All three calibers. The only thing....the ONLY thing, not to like about it is the safety lock. I still hold a grudge with S&W for caving in 2000. This is the only new S&W I'd own.
Ammo cost, once I acquire the brass, won't be that much. I've notice you just don't see much 45lc, 454C or 460 brass laying around at the range. Darn it.
Enjoy it and post lots of pictures and range reports for those of us who will be so jealous, so we can live vicariously though your wild exploits.

Actually, its not that bad. A buck a round isn't too awful for the big stuff and the .45 colt is less. It is worth reloading at that point if you're a plinker. For me, as a hunter I fire two boxes on the range, and buy one for the field per year, so it's not an issue. I'll practice marksmanship with a cheaper gun. The deergun is just that. If you reload and like doing it, I see little downside, at least with the .454s. The .460 brass may be pricy. Still, a nice piece.

If you plan to reload, Starline has all the new brass you could ask for. Pricey, yes but since you will not loose your brass like an auto OK, semi auto, then it will last a long time. For hunting you can buy quality ammo in any of the types it shoots. BuffaloBore comes to mind first. Cabela's stocks it or you can probably order direct.

What I really like about the .460 S&W is the fact a .454 Casull is considered to be it's "reduced load". Just think about that for a second..... Bill T.

You are all forgetting a fourth cartridge that it can chamber. The lowely .45 Smith and Wesson Scholfield ;D.

well it won't be a surprise however we are not allowed to use Pistols for hunting here, range ONLY :(
shame as I would love to see what one would do to a Roo or Fox

arent you? oops damn bugger shit!.............. ;)

I shudder to ask, but I'm a masochist. WHY aren't you allowed to hunt with pistols? The game doesn't care what it get's shot with. If you can use a bow or a rifle, why not a pistol?

Hunting is not a purpose of use allowed by law after we were forced to grab our ankles back in 96
in WA farmers can use them for animal destruction and in the NT there are a few Guided hunt operators have special permits for OS hunters but that's about it,

Never been allowed to hunt with handguns from when they introduced firearm laws in australia way back when, NT was the only place and that got shit canned around 96.
Why, cos we have a political system full of f@cking panzies, poofs, animal libbers, cock gobbling knob gobbers and wankers who havent got a flying F#ck of an idea about hunting nor shooting, whose only source of info is what they read of a gi joe comic and watch off a hollywood movie.
Edit: I really shouldnt respond to posts after having a couple Jack Daniels - my apologies!

Sounds like something Willie Wonka would make.
