Post by: jyates on April 04, 2011, 11:40:53 AM
Anyone coming up to Knob Creek this weekend for the machine gun shoot? I live 20 miles away so Im hoping to make it. Its usually difficult for me to get there actually, something always gets in the way.

I work there.  Have no choice but to be there!  Come look me up in the range house.  As of now, I am off Sunday, but will be there Friday and Saturday for sure.  Name is Tim.

I like working there, except during the shoot.  14 to 16 hour days gets pretty long when you are on your feet every minute of it.

Looks and sounds interesting but seeing all that ammo fly downrange so quickly makes me want to cry!

I bet know it would be grins instead of tears if you were on the trigger.  ;D

Last time I was there was in the late 90s.  Talked to a guy who was set up there with his MG.  He said he would shoot $10,000 worth of ammo that weekend.....at prices of 15 years ago.

Well, I did not have to work today (thank God!) My legs are killing me. Worked from 5 am to 10 pm yesterday, and from 5 am to 8 pm Friday. Woke up this AM by a charley horse in my leg. The shoot went very well, had one heck of a crowd both Friday and Saturday. Sold lots of high dollar guns, so the boss should be happy. It rained just for a little while Saturday, but no issues there. Was worried with the economy the way it is that the turn out wouldn't be so good. Last shoot was very light on Friday and Sunday. Sundays are light anyway (that's why I didn't have to work today.) Overall, a great shoot.

Stands to reason.  Who the hell else can afford to blow off that much ammo at today's prices?

What's the best way to end up with a small fortune firing automatic weapons?  Start with a LARGE fortune!!

I think QANTAS flies to the U.S.  I even know what QANTAS stands for.  There's a trivia question for the group.

I have to attend the fall shoot.

I was at last weekend's shoot.  I was standing in line to rent a gun when the thunderstorm came through.  They closed the range after that.

So, it gives me an excuse to go back.

Gunman-  Does the lower range always flood or was this a freak of nature?

That was the first time the lower range has ever done that during the shoot.  Flooding is not real unusual there though.  We where closed for 3 weeks last month, and have been closed since Wed this week due to the bridge being under water.
