Trump's mind made up on presidential run
DONALD Trump's bid for the Republican presidential nomination took another step toward reality today, as the developer-turned-reality-star said he had made up his mind on whether to run.
The 64-year old hinted that he would be a candidate, saying he would have to wait to make any official pronouncements until after the Celebrity Apprentice finale airs on May 22.
"In my own mind, I think I've made a decision," Mr Trump told FOX News when asked when he would decide on entering the race.
He quickly added another of his now-regular barbs at President Barack Obama, noting "this country is a disaster -- what Obama is doing to this country is a total and complete disaster".
If Mr Trump announces his candidacy while his reality show is still on the air, he could run afoul of federal law mandating equal time for candidates on broadcast networks.
As the suddenly-surging Mr Trump marched closer to a run, he also cast aside Republican strategy guru Karl Rove, beloved by many in the party for executing former President George W. Bush's successful 2000 and 2004 campaigns.
"Abraham Lincoln couldn't have beaten Obama or any other Democrat after what happened with Karl Rove," Mr Trump said.
Mr Bush ended his time in office with a 34 per cent approval rating, below his 88 per cent high after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, according to FOX News-Opinion Dynamics surveys.
"He gave Bush advice and look what happened... he doesn't have to give me advice," Mr Trump said.
Mr Trump's frequent media interviews and attacks on Mr Obama have catapulted him to the front of the party's field for the nomination in several recent polls.

He'll make his anouncement after his reality show featuring D list celebrities ends? ::) This is worse than Fred Thompson who left a safe Senate seat to return to "Law and Order", then expected to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate. On the other hand, two of the cast members of "Predator" became governors. ;D

You're forgetting Gopher from "The Love Boat" and Cooter from "Dukes of Hazard". ::)

Just because they are famous doesn't mean they are crap either.
I prefer to wait until there is a chance to see where they stand and what they are about before I ridicule folks and call them a joke.

FQ, I take exception to your jab at Fred Grandy. He was, without question, one of the best and most consistent Representatives my district has ever had. Gopher (the character) was, much like yourself, a bumbling buffoon who walked around with his foot in his mouth most of the time. Grandy had, and has, very little in common with the character he portrayed on TV.

Indeed. He had a reputation as being one of the biggest pricks on the hill. He got a long time House employee fired because when they entered the elevator the guy asked if he should push the button for the Lito deck. :P He may have voted right, but by all accounts was a grade A A-hole.

FQ, I take offense at your jab at Fred Thompson, too! He may be a "neo-con", and THAT offends you, but how can you hold a vocation against someone! At the time, he chose what his wallet told his head! I believe he made the right decision, and I STILL think he'd make a great POTUS! (but that's probably a little too far right for you!) LMAO!

I'm making no judgements on the man's politics. What I AM saying is this. If you believe in public service, and believe you have something vital and unique to contribute, you don't quit a safe Senate seat to go back to Hollywood. That's the mark of a dilletant. Maybe it was the right thing to do for him personally, but it doesn't give a lot of confidence in his sticking power as a potential President. Its the same with Palin, again politics aside. If you quit halfway through a term to get paid, more power to you. But don't expect me to trust that you are dedicated to the job or can be trusted to be there when the going gets tough. I'd say the exact same if they were Dems or Libertarians. Thompson could have been President, but ask yourself this. Did anything about his half assed campaign suggest that he really wanted the job, or did he just get talked into running?

Yeah, he was talked into running, so what? You can't say that you wouldn't take a "leave of absense" for more than a mill! Let's see, a normal college prof makes about 100G's! That's your TENURE! For a couple years work, you'd do it in a HEARTBEAT! His political dedication cannot be questioned anymore than your educational, can it?

Lets say we make about half of that. For a mil, my ass would be gone so fast I'd leave dust storms. ;D Still, I'm not a Senator, or running for President. Maybe I'm asking too much. But when I trust someone, literally, with my life and liberty, I expect them to be committed to the cause. Not just holding out for a better offer, because what happens if that offer comes while they are in office? Its just a matter of perspective I guess, but thats my take on it. YMMV. Peace.

You pompous self righteous POS.
You actually have the sheer balls to post that after voting for Obama, A BS artist who never did anything and quit half way through his only senate term for the higher paying job of President ?
Your ignorant hypocrisy is stunning, even for a Phd.
And while your chewing on that reality why don't you stick your "Peace" up your liberal ass.

so I take it If FQ dose not like him, he must be a good bloke then hehe ;)

Tell ya what.
From all accounts Patton was often a grade A A-Hole.
But I doubt there was anyone, anywhere who could have done the job he did...and that was exactly what we needed.
Many "Heroes" are also in that class, but they got the job done when it needed getting done.
I'll take the A-Hole that can get the job that we need done today, done.
I might even buy him a beer. Might even drink one with him if I'm really pleased with the job.

I can't address the man's behavior in Washington. However, the Fred Grandy I know, and who I count among my personal friends, is far from an a-hole. Again, I wasn't on the elevator to witness the scenario that you describe, but it sounds VERY out of character for the man I know.
That being said, who cares if he's an a-hole? I don't vote for somebody to be a nice guy, I vote for them to get the friggin job done, and he delivered, in spades.

The show is over, nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

Its like everything else he does, its all about The Donald Show. Still, like always, he got a ton of free press and became the most talked about man in America for a few weeks. Another successful 15 minutes. :P ;D

Not surprised in the least. I didn't think he ever was serious about running.
Why submit to the press and the dems digging into his finances and deals when he can continue to make mega-bucks doing what he is now?
He got a tremedous amount of free face time and that's what it's all about with Trump.
