That link should get you to the relevant pages in Pete Bodo's book 'Whitetail Nation" documenting a visit he paid me a couple of years ago.

Sometimes I struggle to keep up with the younger generation and all their idiomatic words and phrases.  (Can't tell you what I thought BFF meant first time I saw a teenager use it.)

Anyway, I'll show my ignorance.   What's an autotrumpet?   Why isn't it referenced anywhere in the article?  And why would you want to mute it?   Isn't "muted" and "blast" oxymornonic?

Ta Da Ta Daa  muted as in small toot of my own horn is my guess.

I'm just a little slow.   Like when the were talking about "shooting steel match ammunition" and I thought they were talking about ammo for shooting "steel matches".  ;)

Sorry Alf, at only 4 years your junior I hardly qualify for 'younger generaton' status - just my love of convoluted etymology.   MP

Mike,  I have to admit, I don't remember ever reading a purely "hunting" book.

But I thoroughly enjoyed reading Pete Bodo's,  (What was available at the web site).   And of course the part about the visit to your ranch was great.

Congratulations on being a chapter in the book and part of Pete's quest for the "monster buck".
