I only have enough money to buy 1 of the 3... naturally, I found all 3 for sale at the same time...
As you guys know I like guns, boats and suffer from TES( tool envy syndrone).
which one to get... which one to get...
;D
-
TAB,
I have no idea what they are and why they're special to you. Maybe if you can explain what each does and why you like it. Maybe, vicariously, I can channel you and make my vote..... ;D
-
Are they are priced about the same? I'm no expert but I'd have thought the boat would be more than the gun & lathe combined.

Go for the Mateba (1), then the lathe. Forget about the sailboat because you're too old for that crap....
-
how old do you think I am?
-
how old do you think I am?
I believe you said once that you were in your 50s; anything past 45 is old to me..... ;D But I keep adjusting that upward each year I get older too....So maybe in two years, I'll tell you to go for it..... ;)
-
not even close... ;D
-
Mateba all the way!
Would love one of those beasties!
Would possibly swap my 460 for one, maybe....
-
If it were me;
#1 - Mateba
#2 - Lathe
#3 - Boat, a very distant 3rd.
It is said that the two happiest days of a boat owners life are the day they buy a boat and the day they sell it.
I understand that the Mateba works best with really hot loads and probably wont get shot that much, but still, just how cool is an automatic revolver? What caliber is it?
-
Get the gun, f@%k boats, and the lathe seems like work...but if it makes you money, then you can use it to finance the gun later, and f@$k the boat still.

depends on the boat... nothing is better then boat head... trust me. ;) The numbers of naked women I've had on my boats over the years is shocking...

I suspect the Mrs. would frown on the kind of behavior now. Women can be funny that way.

had her and her friend on it topless last week...
Don't even get me started on our trips out alone... ;) ;D

With friends like that............

TAB is mid 30's
My answer, if it's not to late, is get the lathe if you have work for it. If not get the Mateba.
-
If you want an adult perspective, tell the kids to shut up and give a listen.
The boat starts losing money the minute you close on it. Yeah, it's fun to watch nekkid women bouncing around the foredeck (I am a licensed captain with more years on boats than you have on earth, so I know of which I speak) but, you are a married man and you know which one you're gonna end up with. Do you really want to have to answer the question, "Do you think her tits are better than mine, honey" while your are sweating out four quarts of margaritas after a day in the hot sun?
The lathe is a work related item that you can buy and claim on your taxes, so it really ain't in the equation.
The gun is the ONLY thing on your list that even makes sense.
Sheesh, Tab... Grow up and think like you know how to do it.
-
A used hobie from the 80s is really not worth anything to start out... Its just one of those things I've wanted for a couple decades now.
AS to that question... my wife already knows, if she does not want the answer don't ask the question.
The lathe is a toy tool for me to be able to build diffrent parts for this and that. mainly for boats. ;D
I'm not one to buy stuff new, unless its for work. all "toys" get picked up used.
-
Get the lathe, TAB.
You have the skill to turn it into money. It will pay for itself soon, and then start making money for the gun and boat.
-
I remember you did the same thing with us over buying a 617 or a Luger. We told you to buy the Luger and you bought the 617 anyway. So I will use "reverse psychology" and say buy the boat. You'll look so trendy on it with your sunglasses on top of your head wearing SPEEDOs..... ;D
-
What Solus said!
I have two boats and many guns, but it takes money to feed them after you buy them. A tool in the hands of a craftsman may be considered a toy, but it is a toy that can feed you, your family and they toys you have or acquire.
-
I think you have the Mateba confused with the Rhino. They look similar and had the same designer. But one is a standard manual revolver and the other is an automatic revolver. One is $750, the other is $2000.

I always heard that a boat was nothing more than a hole in the water that you pour money into.

That is why mine are small! I can't afford to patch big holes :'(
-
I currently have 6 boats... ;D
all small.
smallest is a laser the biggest is a stoker 20'
they range from mild to wild.
The stoker is the fastest at this point. a hair under 94mph on gps is the fastest I've taken it. with a prob swap and a higher jack plate i'd pick up a few mph.
I've had several boats over the years that broke the 100 mph mark, but its about $1000 per mph faster once you hit 90.
The fastest was a 17' flatty with a blown injected alky 521 ford. Had it to 117.42 mph on gps. ;D
There is another saying in boating...
every one wants a 100 mph boat, until they own one.
Been there done that, I may own another one again, but I'd have to get a smoking deal on one some one else built. Then again a 300xs on the back of the stoker would get me there easy, but they are about $18k, 23 ish installed with controls. $1000 per mph remember lol...

Gee, I have two amulatubs:
One with a 1959 10hp Evinrude and one with an early 90's 30hp Evinrude.
Only downside is that when a quick moving perch passes us we tend to get caught up in the wake ;D
-

Grats on the new boat, TAB.
You can always trade one of them in for the lathe or gun later if you find you don't really need a boat for every day of the week. ;D
Enjoy.
Take care.
-
The trailer painting process as started... Got the boat sitting on blocks in the backyard.
Started sand blasting... of corse the bitch down the street came over and complained about my tow behind compressor going for a couple hours. ( I have a portabled shelter I put up and seal for sand blasting so it stays contained.
I'm sorry about that, I didn't mean to point the exhast at your bed room window, honest. ;D

my fav size is 48x36x30. it was the size of my last reef. I miss it, but I don't miss having to pay for it. I was running a single 2000 watt halide over it.
