Title: smith m&p
Post by: redgunner on March 13, 2008, 09:43:18 AM
:)just bought a new smith&wesson m&p-9 and smith&wesson m&p-45, these are very nice guns with ambidex. controls, which is great when you are left handed. the 9mm shoots much softer than the springfield xd-v-10 ported that i HAD.the rebate they have now and the 2 free clips also help.just wanted to share that i really like the m&p's.

Congrats on the new toys.
I've owned the MP9c for about a year, love it.  Side by side with the XD9, I felt very little difference.  The MP is definitely more comfortable.

Anyone know if the new LaserLyte subcompact laser fits the MPc?  Not sold on lasers but they might be fun.

Also just purchased an M&P in 40 cal.  Love it for the ambi features, for a southpaw shooter (me), this is fantastic, shot Glocks, Sigs, XD's, Etc,.. at our local gun shop, and the M&P felt the best to me.

Thats what great about good firearms, the creature comforts, Brand new Cadillac, Lexus, Mercedes, all good, but the right one you FEEL right away. The Smith had it,.. Congrats and enjoy.

The wife has both 9 mm M&P and the 9 compact. I like the compact version better, but in fairness I also love the G26.

I just got the MP 40 for my wife. She has small hands and her old Glock 22 was uncomfortable for her to shoot due to the longer reach to the trigger. I love my Glocks (model 20 and now her old model22) but the M&P is much more comfortable. Hope thay make a 10mm version.

Got my M&P 9 a few months ago with my two add'l free mags.  I took my rebate and purchased two more.  OK, the rebate didn't cover both mags, but you get the idea.

I just got it back from a Dan Burwell trigger and sights.  Sweet.

I also purchased a starburst backstrap from speedshooters specialties.  Looks and feels nice.  Anyone know if this backstrap could cause any heartache with anyone as an unapproved IDPA grip mod?  They way I read the rules, its similar to the factory insert, so should be OK.  It's not permanent like a front strap mod in any case.

Congrats on the M&P!

I went through a GUNSITE class with a 9mm, and it was sweet!

Out of all the pistols I have shot, M&P's are at the top of the list (just behind Glock of course  ::)). M&P's are awesome and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Good choice..   ;)

Interestingly enough — and this is another thread — I've just started working with a T&E FNP-9mm, which feels to me a lot like the M&P. A little fatter than the SR9...sort of G19 width. Very short reset on the trigger, and the SA pull is very VERY good (it's a hammer gun rather than striker-fired, and the hammer drop is LOUD!).I've got one of the Laser Max green lasers mounted on the rail...let you know later whether I like it or not!

I'm beginng to think it's hard to go wrong with the current generation of plastic pistols. I mean, if I was suddenly limited to a G19, an M&P, an SR9, the FNP, an XD-M or, heck, even an H-K USP, I don't think I'd feel handicapped in any way.

^ I felt the XD-M and WOW! I just wish they offered a 9mm or .45 ACP.

I'm sure after some market studies, it won't be long. I also liked the orig. XD but the ambi options and grip on the M+P just felt better. Personal choice, but many of the "staple" manufacturers, are all putting out a quality pistol, that comes down to consumer preference.
