Post by: philw on May 24, 2011, 07:37:55 AM
but a teeny weeny kerb has defeated the Presidential car

I am shocked that homie did not get it fitted out with some low rider air Suspension for when he would be hitting switches ;)

You just know what the Secret Service agents were thinking - <obscenity of choice> - Sitting Duck!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Love the way the SS moved a bus to block the cameras as they employed some super secret magic decoder ring Batman belt tool thingee to free the (most likely) empty limo.   ;D

High Centered....what a rookie goof.   HAHAHAHA

The bus also would block any incoming fire when changing vehicles.

Come to think of it, an armored Hummer would be a much better vehicle to insure survivability of the occupants.  Protection and the ability to use most any escape route available.

Let the Decoy ride in the limo.  I'll take the HumVee.

Something broke.  Look how far into the wheel well the front tire is.

FWIW, the thing supposedly DOES have air/hydraulic lowrider suspension.

Not necessarily.  When it high centered, the curb became a pivot point and the weight of the engine up front could lever the rear wheels off the ground losing traction and making it immobile.

If the high center was very far behind the center of gravity of the car, an unusual percentage of the body weight would be on the front wheels.

The high centering may have caused something to break, but I don't think something breaking cause the high center.

You can see the rear "bounce" a bit as the weight settles on the front wheels.

There was a loud clank just as the car high centered and stopped suddenly.  It is too far forward for the rear suspension control arms, and I would think the armor plating would be smooth, so I'm guessing a drive shaft hanger bearing support.

A car that long has a two-piece drive shaft (provided that it is RWD). The clanking could have been one of the slip-joints on the shaft pulling out of the trans, or the trans mount itself. This would render the car immobile.

After looking over and over, it does appear that the wheels actually retract into the wheel-wells more so than the weight of the car coming down over them.

Looks and sounded like a ball joint snapping in the right front.

I could buy that if it were just the right side. Focus on the left....both wheels seem to retract with an obvious force that appears separate from the weight applied by the car.

Heck, I don't know, definitely odd to see though.   :D

Different angle showing left side of the car. Something that effects both sides definitely broke...IMHO:

I'm going with air suspension component failure for now.....

It should not have high centered.  Something happened to the front suspension. (IMHO)

Here's an educated wild ass guess:

Is it possible that when they high centered they managed to break an air line to the front suspension.  Stock Caddies are air all around, and I can't believe they totally scrap the system in this beast.  I know they keep a stepped up version in regular limos and hearses, because it is the best way to handle both the added empty weight and the changing loads.

Addition:

That thing did not high center!  It looks like air bag failure.  Look at the way the dust blows behind the front wheel even after it dropped to the ground.  Do you suppose that Goodyear got a hot call from the Secret Service?

not sure what it means, but if you watch the second video, you can see the right front tire lift off the ground with the loud noise.

Left front bounces but you can not see the pavement under it to tell if it leaves the ground.

Regardless of what it is every farmer knows one fact:

When the ass in charge gets bad enough every mule will lay down.

Are you implying that one of these would be more appropriate transportation?   ;)  ;D
