Parents keep child’s gender under wraps
They say that kids receive messages from society that encourage them to fit into existing boxes, including with regard to gender.
"In fact, in not telling the gender of my precious baby, I am saying to the world, 'Please can you just let Storm discover for him/herself what s (he) wants to be?!." she wrote in an email.
Some day this kid is going to stand at a public restroom door or in front of the school locker rooms, and at that point it might be important to have a little information about which one and why!

That is some f**ked up stuff right there!

Maybe little Storm will become a Pandoran...or one of those lovely champagne mangos...

"We've decided not to share Storm's sex for now--a tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a stand up to what the world could become in Storm's lifetime (a more progressive place? ...)," it said.
There's nothing ambiguous about the baby's genitals. But as Stocker puts it: "If you really want to get to know someone, you don't ask what's between their legs." So only the parents, their two other children (both boys), a close friend, and the two midwives who helped deliver the now 4-month-old baby know its gender. Even the grandparents have been left in the dark.
Stocker and Witterick say the decision gives Storm the freedom to choose who he or she wants to be. "What we noticed is that parents make so many choices for their children. It's obnoxious," adds Stocker, a teacher at an alternative school.
Truly amazing....truly amazing.
And we wonder why the state of affairs in the world have descended to what it's become today.

Do I assume one doesn't need a birth certificate in Canada? Kinda leaves the government in the dark also?

You really have to wonder what the kid will be like as a teen.
I just can't see them being a well adjusted person as a adult. Simlar to how alot of home schooled kids are.

Exactly....thinking "Columbine" or "serial killer" here.

Moron! You bought the statist NEA-driven lie. Every home school kid I have ever met has been more normal than the publicly indoctrinated ones. Polite, respectful, smart and accomplished - every one of them.
Of course, you are in kalifornicated, so maybe YMMV.

I knew we would all get a little TAB all over us after that one :o

I have got to mark today down for my later years:
1. First reply is red telling it like it is;
2. Second reply is from MB himself;
3. Followed quickly by TAB saying something stupid and then getting ripped later ;D

Yeah.....I was waiting.
*Note for clarification, In my previous sarcastic post (serial killer), I do agree with TAB's first basic statement about the kid's later teen years. Crap like this early in life, along with the type of folks the parents present themselves as, can mess up a child for life.
I wholeheartedly agree with Path's assessment.......................... homeschooling has no point being brought into it.
-
Let's see... TAB you're a Kalifornistaner.
Hmmm... I've got a kid living in that same state.
I'm so embarrassed.

I know 3 people who were Home schooled, Deepwater, who seems like a real good guy, Path (I think ) who can be an a-hole sometimes, and a good guy at others, and a former boss who was an a-hole all the time.
This breaks down to roughly 50% each way.
Pretty much the same as the public school people I've known .
Like every one else I agree with the rest of TABs post though, this poor kid is going to have a rough time in school.

I've met tons of home school kids, out of all of them, only 2 were well adjusted as young adults ( late teens earliy 20s)

In the nature vs. nurture debate of whether someone turns out gay/straight, I lean heavily on the nurture side. However, there is no doubt that nature decides what sex you are. Parents are supposed to make decisions for their children when they are young; it's their job. Last I checked, a 4 month old can't make too many critical decisions. A child should never have to wonder whether it's a boy or a girl because it's parents were too lazy (you feel in a better adjective) to tell it. It's likely to have problems if it guesses right; heaven forbid it guess wrong.
Now to address the other topic that got started. I know I'll catch flak for it too, but I have to agree with TAB's full assessment. I know a lot of people who were home schooled, and some are really good friends of mine. I'll agree that almost all of them are very polite and respectful, and most are intelligent. However, very few have good social skills. I know people go through public schools, etc without developing social skills too, but, from my experience, the proportion of home schoolers is greater. I'm sure it varies some from region to region, and there are always exceptions. By the way, I am no where near California and have never been there.

Making a stupid decision for yourself is one thing. Jacking someone else's life up is quite another. What is wrong with gender anyway?! The huge majority of us are happy with what we are and especially glad that the other gender exists as well. Those of the opposite gender seem pretty stoked with the lot they've been dealt as well.
Home-schooling. There are probably a lot of reasons a parent may choose to do this. Gangs, drugs, or maybe the schools just won't address a problem that is the parent's concern. The parent may need to do an inventory of their ability to take on the responsibility of educating and teaching social skills. If they can't really do it, they're going to fall into the category of jacking someone else's life up.
Less than a month left in Kommiefornia!

You're lucky, I've never met a late teen's early twenties civilian that I would consider "well adjusted".
Then again, it's TAB making the judgement on them ::)
