Title: Holder gets something right!
Post by: fightingquaker13 on June 02, 2011, 01:29:22 AM
It seems that one of the worst excesses of the War on Some Drugs is about to be corrected. According to the WSJ, Holder is recommending not just equalizing the sentences for cocaine and crack, but making theses recommendations retroactive Its refreshing that an AG listens to the US Sentencing Commision. The idea that you get one sentence for cocaine and a ten times harsher sentence for the same drug mixed with baking soda and put in a microwave (with a smaller ratio of drug to weight) was absurd. Its the equivalent of making possession of Amstel Light a misdemeanor and malt liquor a felony. I am not Holder's number one fan by any stretch, but at least he's doing one good thing.

Which direction, harsher or lesser of the two?
