.........so I'll ask it here :
MB allowed that in a recent match he'd shot a Browning BSS as his shotgun. I was always of the thought that only double trigger hammer guns were allowed in those games. I can see them dispensing with the hammer rule but I've never seen a BSS with 2 triggers. Anyone know the rest of the story?

If I recall correctly, the only prohibition on a SxS for SASS is that it can't have an ejector. Single trigger/double trigger, hammer/no hammer - all legal. For Wild Bunch matches, however, I thought you had to have a '97-type - no SxS allowed.
I'm sure corrections will be forthcoming on how wrong I am.

Wild Bunch = '97s only
Regular SASS allows SxS with single or double triggers...just no ejectors...

Google is your friend:
SHOTGUN REQUIREMENTS
Any side-by-side or single shot shotgun typical of the period from approximately 1860 until 1899 with or without external hammers, having single or double triggers is allowed.
Automatic ejectors are allowed on single shot break action, lever and pump action shotguns ONLY.
Side-by-side shotguns may not use automatic ejectors. Lever action, tubular feed, exposed hammer shotguns of the period are allowed, whether original or replicas.
The only slide action shotgun allowed is the Model 1897 Winchester shotgun, whether original or replica.
My understanding is Wild Bunch is a separate match in SASS shoots that allows period style 1911s but not M1919 BMGs. ;)
on edit - I would really like to see match that did have 1919s though!

Isn't the Winchester (or clone) 1887 lever also legal in SASS?

Ah ha....OK many thanks. I have an old AYA 'Yeoman' that I've been looking to get out of, maybe I'll drive it over to Fredericksburg next time they shoot some SASS. It sure looks like it came out of the old west :(

Yes, but not in Wild Bunch matches.
