Title: Secret police dispatch tipoff???
Post by: Badgersmilk on June 16, 2011, 07:25:57 PM
Somehow my neighbor always knows before the police even go down the street where their going and whats up!  Doesn't happen all that often, but anytime they get called into the neighborhood he knows all about it before they get where their going.  :-\  It can be domestic dispute, lost dog, whatever.  He's not the one calling them, their going to houses on other streets.  Even his wife has walked out on the front yard just today.  Looked around, and said.  "Oh, there they go" when a cop car passed on another street.  No sirens.

I've got a scanner, and the thing is constant chatter with everything happening for miles and miles.  Half of it is in code, & I find it hard to believe their sitting in their house listening to that chatter 24/7 when it would only be of interest to us once in a blue moon.  :-\

HOWS HE DOING IT?  ???

Some people love to listen to scanners. I don't know why.

HE JUST DID IT AGAIN!  >:(  Their talking to the guy down the street who has a truck in his driveway that doesn't move.  Probably no tag or something...  But the neighbor came out before the cop even pulled up!  He watched their car pool up then went back in.

I'd ask him, but don't really know the guy, and his wifes a BIT@#!   ;)

Do you WANT to know him? They are obviousley wierdos with an unhealthy police fixation. Survey says stay the hell away from them.

:D  Their probably all dressed up in the house right now playing Dragnet!   ;D ;D ;D

I just think it's interesting they ALWAYS seem to know whats happening before the cops even drive by!   :-\  It would be kinda cool to hear whats going on in the neighborhood.  I'm not being nosy, just a good safety conscious citizen!  REALLY!

Dang...  Cops came with a flatbed and TOOK the truck.   :-\

Feel like such an old woman all the sudden.  I should go get a buncha cats!   ;)

One of the tricks is to only listen to calls within your precinct or zone.   If the public safe is using fixed frequencies then you only want the one for your area.   If they're using a "trunking" system then you only want the "talk group" that effects you.

The codes are on-line and the more standard ones are easy to remember.

I was listening to my zone one day and heard a car dispatched to my address for some xxxx code which I didn't know.   The dispatcher said "see the woman".   Well, I was painting the bed room at the time, so I checked to make sure it was the right color and that I hadn't spilled any on the rug.   Okay, maybe I'm not in trouble, but maybe the wife is cornered by a perp somewhere else in the house.   I grabbed a gun and cleared the house not finding her.  Finally I looked out and she was standing by the mail box waiting on the police.    Storing the gun, I gingerly went out and ask,  "honey, everything okay?"

Turns out some kids had egged our mail box and she want it reported.    I told her next time to let me know before she dials 911.

I don't listen to the police anymore because I find the fire department for more interesting.   The police just get dispatched and many times you don't know what happens after that.  With fire department they're all the time radioing back and giving sit-reps.

They're obviously members of the psychic friends network. Sheesh, you guys should know that.  ;D

Honestly Badger, as a gun owner, and someone who is planning to break about a dozen different local ordinances in re Toonces, I would stay away from this guy. The idea of being able to make a 911 call describing a "man with a gun who left a poor (radio edit) bleeding and screaming" is probably enough to give him a woody. Picking you out of a lineup, testifying, its his wet dream. Cuidado man, he's probably related to the cat girl on E-harmony. ;D

They might have called it in....she's a bitch right?
Why would the cops tow a truck that is on private property?
I guess screwing with people with trucks in their driveway is safer than taking down meth labs, or actually looking for gangbangers.  ::)

Good advice there.

Some places have ordinances against "unregistered" vehicles. I know Laconia does.

DING!  I half way know the guy with the truck.  Went down and asked him why they took it.  He's not exactly pleased.  But in the cities defense, they'd given him a warning about the expired tag a few weeks ago.  Sooooo.   :-\

Thanks for the advise on the other "psychic friends" guy!  I'm inclined to think your all right.  They always just seemed like one of those neighbors you don't wanna get to know.  You know?

Still.  It'd be cool knowing whats going on in the neighborhood.  Maybe if I tell the guy that just lost his truck I think the other guy narced on him, HE'LL find out whats up!  THAT'D start some activity for the cops!   ;D  Life in town...  Who says its gotta be booring!   ;)

So does our little piss-ant town of 700 people. One local resident who in fact keeps his property looking like a real s..thole put his derelict vehicles on registered auto trailers and parked the trailers on gravel, thereby complying with the letter of the ordinances. So the city is stumped, although he did manage to clean up the debris in the yard - mostly car parts, some broken kids' toys, etc.

There was also the episode that hit Youtube where a city crew (somewhere in PA IIRC) came onto private property and physically yanked a basketball pole and backstop from a guy's driveway. Seems some ordinance had passed and such poles were deemed "too close" to the street and therefore had to be removed. When the homeowners didn't remove it, the city violated their private property and removed the pole. Oh yeah, and the city stole the pole and backboard as well. The woman running the whole show was a singularly obnoxious little fascist too, mouthing off the whole time her "people" violated the rights of the homeowner.

The Kelo decision has serious f..ked this country's concepts of private property.

That sounds like trespass and theft to me, unless they had a warrant or some other court order for seizure. cf Amendment 5. >:(

If the people in whose driveway the truck was parked called them, they may have recovered a stolen vehicle.  That would prompt a tow.  Just a thought.

We have scanner jockies here too.  They can quote you every 10 code and police dispatch code, even to the officer's badge number/callsign.   I have a hard enough time remembering my own info on a call.  Fire and EMS are "plain language" by law, LEO's are supposed to use it when on the air with Fire/EMS otherwise it's mostly numbers.  The ones we used in CA were primarily the criminal code section for the offense ie 415-fighting/assualt, 5150 psycho.  10 codes can change from area to area.

The pole was right at the curb, the folks were notified it needed to be moved, the city was acting upon a complaint of a neighbor and it was on the easement the city has alongside it's streets.

If you're referring to the basketball pole I mentioned, no it was not at the curb. From the video I saw, it was easily 12-15' from the street, the loader had to come into the driveway to get at it, and the city was not acting on a complaint as they actually removed a number of basketball poles and hoops that day and a few days before that as well.

Yes, they were notified, but had no due process to fight back with, and the ordinance nazi's came and violated his sovereignty, just like the cops that towed the truck with no tags - from private property.

As I said, Kelo has seriously f..ked us all.
