It never ceases to amaze me how mexicans and mexican wannabes can be SO stupid. Testify against a bill in a language that exemplifies the need for the bill.

Supporters of Senate Bill 9 have said it would help crack down on illegal immigrants. Opponents argue that it will do little to help border security and that it’s instead based on racism.
That "argument" never gets old

It's like the boy who cried wolf. By the way I believe the bill passed the house.

Speak English or get the f**k out. My grandparents learned English when they came here. So can the Mexicans.

Jumbo, it's not that they can't learn to speak english, it's they don't want to or have to. We have all kinds of bilingual signs around from street signs to products for sale in stores. we have a government( from local on up) that supplies translators or documents in their language for them when they come in to apply for any social programs that they have found out from their friends and relatives. Why would they bother? It's all being handed to them.

Uh, no offense Sledge, but the sign says give us your tired and your poor. It says nothing about your stupid and corrupt. ;)
FQ13 who wonders if they understand how badly you just dissed them. I mean honestly, how bad to you have to be to get kicked OUT of a nation of convicts? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I am not a fan of having to choose what language I want to use to communicate on the phone or having everything in both languages. However, my recent condition puts me in the position where I don't speak the local language. Seeing/hearing something not in Chinese is much appreciated. Therefore, I'm willing to relax my opinions a little in tourist areas and places where people are just passing through, etc.
I realize that making it available to people passing through also makes it available to immigrants, but there should be some kind of middle ground in some areas.
However, I'm just here for a couple months and trying to learn to speak the language. Living anywhere for 23 years (or over a couple for that matter) and not being at least verbally fluent in the local language is unacceptable.
I know some of you have to deal with it more on a daily basis and likely have different views. However, I currently looking through the eyes of a confused foreigner.
