There doesn't seem to be a hot reactor there and if any bombs were armed, there is surely enough time to disarm them.

The risk of a blast should be near zero if not zero, but I guess there is a chance that nuclear material exposed to a blaze like that could have radioactive particles carried aloft?

On the bright side, if they did blow up, not only would it most likely put the fire out. (Think explosives to kill a well fire) But it would irradiate much of the southwest, nuking the illegals traveling north.

I'm just sayin, silver linings and all.

But in all seriousness, These fires are devastating and I hope that people are ok.

I suspect that it would take much more than a firestorm to get near anything explosive or nuclear.
These folks take "bunker" to a whole new (sub)level.

The city may be screwed however...

Been a fire burning in NC for a few weeks now.  They just said on the news it has 71,000 acres turned to smoke now.  Smoke we're choking on here in SC!  Been several days now that the smoke here hundreds of miles away, is so thick you'd think the fire is right down the street.  If you outside for more than a few minutes on bad days you have a sore throat the rest of the day...  I'm sure that's healthy!  :(   Can't imagin what it's like actually in North Carolina!  :( :(

TIRED OF CHOKING ON THIS!  http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/25/emergency-declared-in-north-carolina-as-wildfires-rage/ (http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/25/emergency-declared-in-north-carolina-as-wildfires-rage/)

Yahoo says there's 41 diff. forest fires burning in the country right now.   :o

NBC says the fire is now less than a mile away from the Los Alamos plant.  Guess we'll know soon!

Damn, you are excitable, aren't you ?
No big deal, not a first either.
A few years ago some genius from the Park Service decided to go ahead with a controlled burn out there in 60 MPH winds.
That one swept right over the storage area, all it did was clear the brush off the bunkers.
As for the number of fires, Dude, it's summer time. You know, dry, heat, fire danger, except in the Mississippi basin, they're pretty safe there.
