MSNBC has suspended political analyst and Time magazine writer Mark Halperin indefinitely over a remark he made about President Obama Thursday morning.
"Mark Halperin's comments this morning were completely inappropriate and unacceptable," said MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines in a statement. "We apologize to the President, the White House and all of our viewers. We strive for a high level of discourse and comments like these have no place on our air."
Appearing on "Morning Joe" this morning, Halperin, senior political analyst at Time and MSNBC and co-author of the 2008 election opus "Game Change," sought to characterize the president's demeanor at a press briefing the previous day.

"Are we on the seven-second delay?" Halperin asked.
"We have it. We can use it. Go for it. Let's see what happens," co-anchor Joe Scarborough replied.
"I thought he was a dick yesterday," Halperin replied, sending the hosts into a brief moment of panic.
Halperin apologized later on in the show and issued his own mea culpa hours later via MSNBC.
"I completely agree with everything in MSNBC's statement about my remark," he said. "I believe that the step they are taking in response is totally appropriate. Again, I want to offer a heartfelt and profound apology to the President, to my MSNBC colleagues, and to the viewers. My remark was unacceptable, and I deeply regret it."

The guy asked if they were on a 72 second delay and was told yes. Someone was asleep at the "iggy" button at MSNBC. The Host should have been alerted when the guy asked the delay question in the first place and emphisized to be cautious with his remarks or not say anything.
This is not the first time that the morning show on MSNBC had problems with thier guests going "off". You would think that MSNBC would have thier act together.

It's MSNBC, so why would they even think they had their act together?
Besides, I am more floored over the actual truth instead of the usual spin lies being broadcast by MSNBC than anything else. Of course, they immediately made Halperin apologize and then suspended him. More work for MinTru and the damned memory holes.

dipisc, stuff like that draws viewers, just like Jerry Springer, The network can always apologize afterwards, and blame the guest.

Free speech? Right on Sledgemeister. Unfortunately, free speech is unacceptable and not politically correct in today's World. When you speak out negatively of those in charge than you had better expect the repercussions of what exits the pie hole. They are going to screw that guy's career now.

Absolutely right Tom. But you notice that they will only speak up when they have a crowd to back them up? Alone, they are weak and fearful of speaking up.
I have no respect for a person who walks on eggshells in order to avoid conflict. Sometimes you have to get a little dirty to uphold what is righteous and true.
