What do you think? Will we get a credit extension so we can dig our hole even deeper? What if we don't? How would it actually effect day to day life here?
I heard on the news today that 80% of the crimes commited in the US were in some way related to Meth! What happens when bama tells his people wellfare checks aren't going out?!?! :o
One way or another, SOMEBODY will bail bama / America out. There will surely be behind closed doors promises made. That bama will HAVE to deliver on... But in my opinion somebody's gonna allow bama to keep spending. :(

Look for an upsurge in drug sales, probably increased violence between gangs. Also, more "straight" people will be doing things like growing weed, or possibly making meth.

In the end, I don't think it matters much if the debt ceiling is raised or not. The greenback-dollar is pretty much finished as a currency of value.
I expect everyone has noticed how much less it buys at the grocery store. At COSTCO, my coffee has gone from $8.50 to $12.00 in the past 2 months. Beef is priced like unobtainium and chicken isn't much better.
And I also expect most of you have seen what's been happening in Greece. They're broke. Rioting and looting in the streets is a daily happening. We'll likely see that here. Denmark is trying to save their own biscuits by re-establishing borders and stopping immigration that they cannot absorb economically (sound familiar) but it's too late. The Euro (currency by fiat is losing value and will go the way of the Dodo bird.
Still, I expect the Chi-Coms will make an attempt to prop us up--they have too much at stake to let us fold up and blow away too quickly. And the Republicraps and Dummycraps will substitute Jello for backbone once again and whilt under pressure.
Stock up on ammo and other necessities like rice and beans, water and sugar, toilet paper and KY jelly ('cause were taking it up the pooper, big time.) And if you can transfer some cash into Chinese yuans, you might be able to buy something from our new lords and masters.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Wait till the corn market hits new highs from low yeilds that the wet spring has caused in the midwest.
The livestock industry won't be able to afford corn for feed and will send the beef, hogs, chickens to slaughter. This can produce a short term glut with a longer term huge increase in prices.
That record high price for corn? You know how many things contain HFCS?

None that you really want to be consuming.
Might be the time to look into grass fed beef. Better for you and corn is not used. Takes a lot more land per lb., but real estate is in a slump so maybe the price will come down, but I'm sure that is wistful thinking.

Don't forget the government subsidized (otherwise money losing) ethanol production that takes corn out of foodstocks. Supposedly that was one of the main price drivers on worldwide food price increases...brought down the Egyptian government, etc.

It looks like those subsidies may be going away as part of the budget battle.

(Reuters) - The Senate voted overwhelmingly on Thursday to eliminate billions of dollars in support for the U.S. ethanol industry, sending a strong message that the era of big taxpayer support for biofuels is ending.

No doubt the welfare crowd will go nuts in short order when the checks stop flowing here! What worries me as much as that is, come Aug, 2nd what'll happen to our troops overseas?!? No cash to pay them with. No money to fund their arms with. No money to evacuate with. I was overseas in the service when Clinton caused everyone to not get paid for a few days. People were getting REAL testy, REAL fast. They talked about walking off the job and refusing to come back. But what if your a grunt in combat in Afghanistan, or some crap hole like that!?!

our checks boucning will cuase a major prob world wide.

If it motivates bureaucratic, socialist, political elites with a reality slap, than let em bounce.....
The reset button has to start somewhere, and the same ol' same ol' got us into this crapper.

Guys, guys, guys - the Criminal in Chief in the WH will not let a silly little thing like Constitutional and legal rules get in his way of ensuring that his masters' bidding is done and this country is completely and thoroughly trashed as a nation or as an economic power. In fact, that may well be the point - yet another Constitutional crisis would more than help move this country farther down the pike.
So the Criminal in Chief will ignore the limits, the kongress kritters will attempt to rein him in, and assuming they actually, you know, get the votes, they will rattle their sabres and make a lot of noise. However, bho controls the Treasury, he controls the Fed (sort of through Bernanke), and he will continue to have the zeroes added to the debt on the computer system (the modern version of running the printing presses on the $1 bills) and life will go on.
Like Andy Jackson said when informed that the Supreme Court had ruled against him - let them enforce it!
