Title: Thank goodness for strict gun laws
Post by: tombogan03884 on July 05, 2011, 05:31:44 AM
We all know that Mass has very strict gun laws, you can only get a permit to buy from an approved list of 10 round max , etc etc.

This is how it benefits the people

Five more shootings in violent holiday weekend

Five people were shot in three incidents in Boston today, adding to the mayhem of a long holiday weekend that resulted in 11 shootings.

As of late tonight, none of the victims had died, but two men had suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

In the first incident, a man was shot several times just before 1 a.m. in Dorchester. The victim, whose name was not released, was found in a car on Harvard Street, with gunshot wounds in the face, chest, and stomach, Boston Police Department spokesman Officer Eddie Chrispin said. The man is expected to survive.

At 7:15 in the evening, a man was shot in the area of 60 Hollander St in Roxbury, Chrispin said. The man, whom he described as a male in his late teens or early 20s, was transported to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Chrispin said. He said homicide detectives were investigating the shooting last .

Police were seeking a dark red Infiniti with four men inside, and a dark blue Toyota Camry, Chrispin said.

In the third shooting, around 9:55 p.m., three men were shot in the area of 34 Norton St. in Dorchester. Two of the victims sustained minor injuries, while a third victim was critically wounded and not expected to survive.

As fireworks exploded in all directions around the neighborhood, police swarmed the area of Norton and Bowdoin streets. Police were struggling to respond to the many calls for illegal fireworks in the area while dozens of officers and detectives were tied up with the investigation of the triple shooting.

City police historically see an increase in violent crime on summer weekends. Last month, six of the seven homicide victims in Boston were killed between a Friday and a Sunday.

Also today, two men who had been found shot on Pierce St. in Hyde Park yesterday evening were arrested in their hospital beds after police accused them of shooting each other.

Both had been shot multiple times and taken to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police found both handguns believed to have been used in the shooting.

An investigation determined that the two had apparently shot each other during an altercation on the street. The first victim, police said, threw his gun into the middle of the road after he went down. The second victim ran down the street with a gun in hand, police said.

It was not clear who fired first, and police did not discuss a motive behind the confrontation.

Meanwhile, here in NH where any one can buy whatever they can afford and walk out with it that day, (and only 3% non white population )
No one got shot.   Go figure.

One can only imagine the mayhem that would follow if the gun laws in Mass. were as relaxed as those in NH.

We know and can prove, the well documented fact that lawful gun ownership increases gun violence.

It is also well known in law enforcement (though it is seldom mentioned publicly) that criminalizing anything will force bad guys to rethink their position and stop doing whatever has been criminalized.

A good example would be the drunk driving laws currently on the books--it's been years since ayone has driven drunk in the United States.

And just how safe would you feel in New Hampshire knowing nearly everybody is carrying a gun?  You would certainly feel more safe in Mass. where gun ownership is stringently curtailed.

Finally, I would point out that guns are killing children all over this great nation.  A recent case investigation revealed that an unloaded gun, supposedly safely locked away in a secure gun safe, managed to load itself and then sneak out of the safe by operating the tumblers from inside the safe in the dark.  Once out of the safe, this evil gun, an automatic pistol, black in color and with a 30-shot clip, sought out and brutally shot an intellectually challenged toddler next door.

If you won't end the insanity for yourselves, at least do it for the children.

Sincerely,
The Brady Campaign for Intelligent Gun Non-Ownership

In the space of just five hours on the night that the nation celebrates its birth, 13 people were shot and stabbed in five of Boston’s neighborhoods – and four died, according to Boston police.

Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis and his command staff are looking at the individual acts of violence to see if they are connected in any way, said Elaine Driscoll, police spokeswoman.

“Investigators are trying to sort what happened on the street last night and over the weekend,” she said. “The police commissioner is meeting with his command staff and district level detectives to analyze each incident and figure out what the relationships are.”

The identities of the victims – deceased or alive – were not released today.

Police, however, did release a list identifying when and where the violence took place. The following list is in chronological order:

-7:16 p.m. 60 Hollander Street Roxbury. One person shot to death.  (black )

-9:55 p.m. 36 Norton Street Dorchester. Three shot, one fatally.  (black )

-11:26 p.m. 120 Huntington Avenue, South End. Two people stabbed. One victim is in critical condition and one victim is stable. One person is under arrest.

-11:33 pm. 52 Thomas Park, South Boston. Two people stabbed and neither suffered life-threatening injuries. (Whitey's town, used to be Irish, going black )

-11:34 p.m. Talbot Avenue and Washington Street, Dorchester. One person was shot and taken to the Carney Hospital where they were in stable condition. ( black )

-11:36 p.m. Blue Hill Avenue and Morton Street, Mattapan. One person was shot and taken to the Carney where they were in stable condition. The Area B-3 police station is at this intersection.
(  black )
-11:54 p.m. 975 Blue Hill Avenue, Dorchester. One person was stabbed and was taken to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. ( black )

JULY 5

Back in those days the blacks got bussed in, went to school then got the hell back to Roxbury before dark.
Not sure about "the South End, I think that's Irish and mixed European. North End, and East Boston are Italian.
Remember the Prince spaghetti commercials ? "Hey Anthony", That was Prince St. in the North end, former home of the Angiulo brothers, the Mafia crew Whitey was ratting on.

Bullet strikes innocent bystander in New Bedford shooting
By Brian Fraga / New Bedford Standard-Times
Wednesday, July 6, 2011 -

NEW BEDFORD — A stray bullet struck a woman walking on Ashley Boulevard early Tuesday afternoon in a shooting that police said was precipitated by an argument between two men.

Witnesses said they heard the men yelling at each other, with one of them saying "I’m going to (expletive) kill you" just before three to four gunshots rang out around 12:30 p.m. near the corner of Ashley Boulevard and Coffin Avenue.

The intended target — described as a man in his 20s — was shot in the foot, said New Bedford police Detective Lt. Jeffrey P. Silva...

Authorities say 1 dead, 1 hurt in shooting, fire
By Associated Press
Monday, July 4, 2011 -
BROCKTON — Police say one man has died and another was injured in a fiery crash that followed an early-morning shooting in Brockton.

Authorities say someone fired shots at two men driving in a car on Elm Street early Monday, and that their vehicle swerved into a car parked in a driveway and sparked a fire.

A local man tells WCVB-News that the dead man was his 24-year-old son, a Brockton resident, and that police say he was shot several times. Information was not available on the second man in the vehicle.

There was also a story about 6 people shot in gun friendly Ca as well.
Thank God NH doesn't try to protect its citizens.

Police investigating shooting on busy Dorchester street

A man was shot this afternoon on a busy Dorchester street and Boston police are looking for a small SUV with Arizona license plates believed to have been used in the shooting.

Police said the man was shot in the 200 block of Columbia Road, near the Lilla G. Frederick middle school, around 2:22 p.m. today.

Police said they are looking for a black Jeep Liberty with Arizona license plates.

The investigation is active. The man was rushed to Boston Medical Center where he was in critical condition. N further information was immediately available.

This afternoon’s shooting follows a wave of violence on the night of July 4 that left four people dead, a spasm of bloodshed police said was largely gang related.

Two people were shot on Columbia Road near the intersection with Ceylon Street.

But I thought all those gun laws were supposed to mean gang bangers couldn't get guns ?

Shooter hits Dorchester school
Cops: Man injured as bullet misses kids
By O’Ryan Johnson
Friday, July 8, 2011 -

Gunfire shattered the window of a Dorchester middle school yesterday, missing the scores of children attending a summer camp there but critically injuring a man outside the building, police said.

“It’s a continuing frustration,” said Mayor Thomas M. Menino outside Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School, as he comforted parents rushing to pick up their children after the incident.

“The police are doing their job. We’re going to continue to take bad guys off the street. We’re going to keep doing our work. We’re not going to stop.”

The school was being used as a children’s summer camp by Project RIGHT, a Roxbury-based program that provides services to the neighborhoods of Boston, said the program’s director, Jorge Martinez.

The bullet did not get through the triple-pane window, but did break the glass, said Menino’s spokeswoman Dot Joyce. By 5 p.m., the glass had been replaced.

Police said a man sitting in a car on Columbia Road was targeted by a shooter in a silver Mercedes Benz who fired multiple times and fled at about 2:30 p.m.

The victim, who suffered life-threatening wounds, drove into the school’s parking lot, where he asked for help from Project RIGHT staff, who assisted him and called 911, Martinez said.

The violence came hours after cops carried out two warrant sweeps and brought down top-level members of one notorious street gang that police believe is behind a portion of the latest mayhem, and has been at war with two other gangs, a police source said.

In all, police said 22 men between the ages of 18 and 41 were nabbed in sweeps dubbed Operation Bad Rap and Operation Summer Sweep. Nearly all of the men were arrested for distribution of cocaine, police said.

Among those arrested was Jamaul Douglas, 37, of Mattapan, who was charged with the most serious offense: trafficking cocaine. He pleaded not guilty in Dorchester District Court and was held on $10,000 cash bail. A message left at a phone number listed to him was not immediately returned.

Boston police are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our residents and remain steadfast in our proactive approach to target known offenders,” Boston police Commissioner Edward F. Davis said in a statement. “The consistent execution of these focused enforcement efforts will continue to have an impact on advancing public safety.”

One dead in another violent night in Boston
 July 8, 2011 1:03 AM

By Travis Andersen, Globe Staff

Boston police dealt with another night of violence Thursday night, responding to a fatal shooting in Dorchester as well as another shooting in Roxbury, and becoming involved in a bizarre pursuit of a suspect that ended with his apprehension after he dove into the Mystic River, police said.

Boston Police Captain Jack Danilecki said the Dorchester victim, who was in his 20s but was not known to police, was shot several times at about 11:35 p.m. on Thursday near the corner of Mascot Street and Mountain Avenue.

Danilecki said the victim was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. He said police had no leads on suspects as of early this morning.

Danilecki also said that another man in his 20s, who is known to police, was shot three times Thursday night on Lenox Street in Roxbury. He said that victim was in critical condition early this morning at Boston Medical Center, but is expected to survive.

He said the Roxbury shooting apparently occurred when a gunman stepped out of the backseat of a car and opened fire. He added that police have solid leads in that case.

Separately, Danilecki also said a man spotted in Charlestown Thursday night, who was wanted on a breaking and entering warrant, tried to flee from officers by diving into the Mystic River and attempting to swim to Everett. Danilecki said the suspect was taken into custody.

By Derek Anderson, Globe Correspondent, and John M. Guilfoil, Globe Staff

A man was shot in the buttocks late Tuesday night at the intersection of Alpine Street and Akron Street in Roxbury, Boston police said.

The victim, a man in his late teens or early 20s whose name was not released, was taken to Boston Medical Center, said Deputy Police Superintendent William Gross. The victim’s injuries were considered serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

Police had no description of a possible suspect, and it is unknown if the violence was gang-related.

We finally had a murder here in NH, Haven't heard what the weapon was but some kid  killed his fathers girl friend  in  the next county.
