You know.... if that situation wasn't so pathetic.. it would be funny.
I never heard any more on that.. but no.. she lived about 3 hours from Howard.

Have you ever heard anything more bizzare? I wonder so many things about that.
Like. how did she bathe ( she obviously didn't?)
How did she sleep.. How did she do anything?!!
2YEARS?? Solid.. never to get off the pot?
How do you convince someone that you live with to allow you to sit on the stool for 2 years until your butt grows round it and to it?
Weirdest damned thing I ever heard of.

That story unfortunately is more common than you think. I work fire/ems where I live and we usually get 5-6 cases a year(small town unfortunately no rednecks but too many liberals) of something close to that. You would be surprised the stuff that goes on in your town that will never make the news. If you want interesting stories, buy your town firefighter/emt a beer and ask him about weird stuff in town or better yet if their volunteer join up(believe me they need the help) and see it for yourself!! Case in point.

We get dispatched for the man injured by the snow blower(Please remember if you need to clear a snow chute stop the blades or turn the machine off). We get there, follow the trail of shredded boot parts, foot pieces and blood to the kitchen. As we were wrapping the guy's stump. We tried talking to his wife who was sitting quietly in a wheelchair with a blanket over her lap. The husband told us not to bother and that she didn't talk!! By this time all of us noticed the smell of bad cheese in the room, but since we had more pressing issues dismissed it and loaded the husband in the ambulance bound for the hospital. We drop him off and get called back by the cop doing the report at the house. He tells us the wife isn't responding and if we could check her out. Fast forward to the end of the story. She hadn't been out of the wheelchair in a year, and that funny cheese smell was gangrene(for the younger folks-that's when your arms/legs start rotting away) on both her legs.

+1 on that. I used to do ride-alongs in our town, part of a civilian community service program (different meaning from the alternative to jail) for townspeople to work with police in curbing crime. Right before they canceled the program and politicized/militarized the police department.

Anyhow, I don't recall the stories the officers told or hinted at, but the ride alongs were eye-openers.

Why wasn't I surprised when I saw the newspaper photo ... a trailer house with a mid 70's pickup out front?
