Stumbled accross this forum / thread. VERY interesting stuff!

Page 4 even mentions Les Baer. :-\

I'd put a lot of faith in that.
They mention Glock on the first page ::)
-
Some of the posts are stupid (MOST on the first page). No surprise for anyone. But some of them (the Les Baer quote included), sound pretty legit. All to be taken for what they are though! ;)
I can't say I've had anything awful with pistols... Approximately 10 (ALL) Military issue AR's I ever got stuck with though... ::) Not even gonna go there.
-
Only issue I've ever seen with AR's was an Olympic that double fed, and that only happened with Wolf ammo.
The most reliable Semi Auto I've ever owned is the RIA I carry now, bottom of the barrel price wise, top of the line for accuracy and reliability.
Opinion things like this aren't really worth a crap, every one knows that the Sig Mosquito is a jamming piece of crap, except for the 2 people on here who love theirs.
Every gun is different, I've heard people complain about their T/C Contender jamming, so buy whatever you like the look and feel of and then take it from there.

IMHO, ammo can be the stickler for reliability. My Colt .22 Target pistol, HATES that green box Thunderbird .22 and American Eagle .22.
It will FTF, FTE, cycle lie crap and lead one to believe it's the pistol stupid,......
NOT!.
Put decent ammo in it, and it is like a Swiss watch....
-
If you can jam a Contender... Pretty sure you can break an anvil with an egg.
I agree on ammo quality whole heartedly! Watched a guy at a range FTF his new Glock 17 every second shot for half an hour. Finally started asking questions, and "my buddy gave me these reloads to shoot free!" was all I needed to hear. I packed up and moved several benches further away. HE ended up leaving with a case stuck in the chamber half a dozen people trying couldn't get out.
Ran into him a few days later. Shiny new Wolf barrel, blaming the gun.

It was a tight chamber. ;D

Not really an excuse for a Contender. But in all truth I have a beautiful Mauser I hated for years because it jammed for one reason or another every other shot. And continually got worse as you shot it! I think it was on this forum, somebody recommended I soak the barrel and chamber in paint thinner for half an hour, then put a shotgun brush in a drill motor and run it in the chamber... NOT something I'd ever do with even the cheapest gun, but having grown to really HATE this one... It's just to pretty to shoot that bad! And it's GERMAN! "Everyone knows Germans make good stuff!" ;)
Not ony did the paint thinner not hurt the finish (I fully expected to pull out raw steel!), the gun shoots 100% reliable now! The cosmoline was just that @##$@ $#@#$ ##$%@ tough to get out!!! And I had cleaned this thing like you've never seen in your life before using this trick.
-
Guy I work with has a C&R license. He often brings in "new" guns to clean in the parts washer. Mineral Spirits. and scrub like hell.
That Contender chamber was just tight enough that the ejector spring couldn't over come it. He traded it for another barrel in the same caliber and it was fine.
-
not shockingly, lots of "knock offs" and super cheap guns on that list. Lots of 22 autos( of which we all know the ammo and mags are every thing)

Tom,
I'm not sure if you were referring to me, but I am a FORMER Mosquito owner; let's just say the loved died long ago..... ;)
-
FullAuto, I didn't mention names because I'm not sure , but it was Haz and Rastus I was thinking of.
-
For everyone with a complaint, there is someone with a compliment. Hi Point was mentioned a few times, but if they were junk, they wouldn't have been around as long as they have been.
-
Anything Kel-tec. They just suck. Cheap crap that fails to work or come apart at the wrong time. I have never heard of a keltec owner that has not sent it back for repair.

CJ is dead right, and Mausermans incorrect statement proves it.

How about Me, Haz, and ( IIRC ) Crusader Rabbit ? That's just for starters, there are probably a dozen others on here who are all perfectly satisfied with Kel Tec.
-
I know people that have had bad issues with glocks...
reality no matter what the builder, sooner or latter they will make a limon.

I wouldn't go that far, but I will say I got my money's worth and have no grounds to bitch. You get what you pay for and I'll probably never own another one, but they didn't lie, and they delivered what they promised. I'd give them a solid "C grade". Nothing wrong with that.

Never owned a Kel-Tec pistol, but I've never had any problems with my Kel-Tec rifle........very accurate. The sights could be better, but it is what it is, a cost-effective sub-compact rifle that you can fold up and carry nearly anywhere.
-
I glanced over the pages, but didn't dwell. Like so many of these threads, and coffee shop gossip, it turns into a pissing match and one upsmanship in "my gun is worse than yours." Or "why would you ever think of buying a piece like that?"
-

I think Toms right. I had a 70s series on a para frame back in the day that was flawless for me. The guy I sold it to couldn't get it to feed and it stove piped on him etc. Bottom line is what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. Everyone has to work out his own salvation. ;D
-
It would be remiss not to mention one of the worlds worst ever pistols the Phoenix Arms HP22.
Pro: its cheap
Con: ITS DAMN CHEAP, nasty pos of shit, prone to wear (quickly), unreliable, and dodgy as all #$#%!.
ahhh I feel better now.

Every manufacturer lets a bad one get out from time to time. I'm sure you even have people who will call the Remington 700 a POS because of one thing or another. As far as Glock there will always be people who hate them for no real reason other than the fact they don't appeal to them. A bit like a yellow Corvette. It doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the gun.
The problem with threads like that is they convolute personal opinion with quality of design. Back to the yellow Corvette there is nothing wrong with except for the fact someone doesn't like it. I don't care for Kel-Tec or High Point guns. That doesn't mean there aren't many satisfied owners who absolutely love them. As far as the guy with the bad Les Baer, even a Ferrari won't start once and a while. Bill T.

+1
Said much better than what I tried to communicate.
