Ok, today I take my truck to the shop. I catch a cab back. Its a 12 dollar fare and I figure I'll tip the guy about three bucks. We arrive and I pull out a twenty, and this forward thinking citizen of Haiti informs me that he doesn't have change. Now look, its not like I was trying to pay him with a hundred or a fifty or anything, but, wouldn't you think that as a cabbie you'd carry $50 in ones? As it was I had to rumage around to see what I could find in the house as he couldn't take plastic and wouldn't take a check (idiot!). As it was he got $11, most of it in quarters as opposed to the $15 he was going to get. WTF? ::)

Why you cheap sonofa........ ;D
JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!
I hate asshats like that.....using the age old "I ain't got change" ploy in order to try and snake more tip money out of customers.

I live in a resort town that is known for, among other things, candy...specifically fudge and salt water taffy. So there are, like, 6 fudge shops in town. At EVERY ONE of them, when you ask for "X" amount of fudge, the server gets out the bag or box, puts in the fudge, throws it on the scale, and says, "It's a little over. Is that ok?" 99.9% of the people say, "Sure, it's ok" and they walk out with more fudge than they wanted.
Little comments and questions can pay off big.

Only once have I had a cabbie tell me they didn't have change, it was lunch time on SS check day and every one had been paying her with $20's. It was also payday for me and all I had were $20's.
She was also low on gas (she is her own dispatcher ) We both got change when she gassed up and then I went about my business.
Jay, it's NOT a little over, that's the weight of the box and wrapping paper. Even if the clerk is smart enough to deduct the weight of the box how much extra is 1 or 2 ounces of fudge ? It's not quite the same as a "bakers dozen".

The other option was to take out a piece and be under and you walk out with less fudge than you wanted.
In either case you still get as much fudge as you pay for and 99.9% of the people will think it a blessing to "have" to buy more fudge than they asked for...

Never thought I'd say this, but props to Quaker.
I hate it when a low-life tries to snark me outta an extra few bucks. Glad you stood your ground.
Maybe you coulda made a quick call to La Migracion when you finally settled up. THAT might have made his gravy for the next time.
